combination start, deep cycle.
So taking it down to <12 won't shorten it's life

yeh fair enough. I went with the blue top in the past for the sheer fact of the extra positive and negative posts

Sold a customer of mine an Optima Blue Top (marine grade) for his ute as he was chewing through batteries due to vibration and heat in the area's he was working. He went from changing batteries every 10 months to having this current battery for over 2 years now.

Sold him an Optima Yellow Top as well for his second battery (I ordered a blue top but they were out and told me the yellow's were identical (bull chit)) and it failed after a year and a half from the vibration of the constant corrigated roads he drives on.

So if anyone wants a near indistructable battery, spend a few extra bucks and get an Optima Blue Top. They are designed for the vibration and pounding that happens in boat with the plates having seperators in them.

On another note, highly advisable NOT to use Inox Battery conditioner in current generation batteries as they have calcium in the plates. Not many non calcium lead acid batteries on the market anymore. Using the Inox Battery conditioner reacts with the calcium and shortens the life of the battery. This info was given to me from several battery suppliers which I deal with at work, as well as the Inox rep. I think by memory in the instructions for the battery conditioner it even says not to use with calcium batteries, though could be wrong.

I'm gonna guess that the battery suppliers don't want you using inox battery conditioner because it means we will buy less batteries from them.

Just my opinion

I'd imagine they'd HAVE to warn you if their product won't work with a particular type of battery?

Digging up and old thread here. How are all the century batteries holding up after a few years now? Mine is now dead after slowing up for the last little while and i will need to replace it today.

Another bump for this thread.

Pretty sure I'm still on the original battery and my rig wouldn't start this morning after being left for 5 days. Got it going with the jumper cables to get to work

What did you end up buying Joel?

Perhaps a dumb question, but do people use the sealed maintenance free (SMF) batteries in Triton's? I've always used SMF batteries in my other cars.

I think joel ended up getting a Century from a super cheap sale, not sure what model

I got a 810 CCA supercharge for a very good price. NFTF hooked me up, he has an automotive paint shop in belco, shoot him a message

very happy with it.

Thanks guys. Will check it out.

Car started fine at the end of work today after sitting there all day. Will see how it goes overnight and maybe even top up the water and try putting it on the CTEK charger to see if it buys me more time...
