What info to display on Scangauge/Ultragauge

Postby 98kellrs on Wed Apr 11, 2018 12:02 pm

I've had a search around but can't really find much but I was wondering, what does everyone display on their Scangauge/UltraGauge?

I installed an Ultragauage last week, but I'm no mechanic so it's difficult to figure out what I need to keep an eye on..

At the moment I've got:

- Engine temp (Obvious, I've had the dreaded MN engine overheat issue and don't want a repeat)
- MAP Psi (No idea what that is useful for)
- ECM Voltage (As an indication of battery voltage?)
- Boost PSI (useful for overboost issue? maybe?)
- Run time (seems pointless...)
- Fuel level

What should I add/replace/remove? And how do I know what level to set the alarms at?

I did have intake air temp on but it seems to be reading very high (~50c) which seems very high to me.

Most of these units won't read the intake air temp at the MAF sensor - only high end scanners can do that. Anyway, it's a bit pointless if you have an EGR defeat. So the "intake air temp" that you're reading at 50C is at the manifold.

I have a Scangauge and show Boost and Water Temp with the other two varying according to my taste of the moment. I would like to have gearbox temp but haven't sorted out the code for that one yet.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Thanks Chris, I'll do some reading to see what a normal range for manifold temp is and what would be a concerning temp.

I'd love to have EGT but Ultragauge doesnt seem to have it as an option and I believe the MN's don't have a sensor anyway. My boost seems to read from -0.04 to ~18 which seems about right to me so I'll probably set the alarm around 21-22.

ATF temp is next on my list too, I've got the codes from the Pajero forum but just need time to sit down and suss it out.

I have
Water, Volts, Trans, IAT, PSI/boost and Cat Bank1

Cat bank 1 is kind of used as a proxy EGT...roughly

Thats all on one screen...I have one other screen that I use sproadically to check egr % and a couple of other things I cant quite remember...but the above are the main ones important to me

MN Driver, I got mine from their website: http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/ Wasn't much, just over a hundred bucks or so. The exchange rate is the killer at the moment but it's worth it.

shawty950, Excellent, thanks for that information! I'll whack Cat Bank 1 on there in that case. I'm not too worried about an accurate temp, more seeing the relative changes with different lodes and driving. I'm the same, I've got EGT% on a second screen too.

I don't have a scangauge.
I watch the road instead.

I was hoping that there would be more x-gauge Mitsubishi codes available for use.
There only appears to be ATT, which was the main reason for purchase, but given there is probably stacks more P1 codes there should be a way of extracting them.

I don't watch my Ultragauge, I use the audible alarms to tell me when the car is overheating rather than waiting for steam out of the bonnet or watching the temp gauge on the cluster all the time....But thanks for your helpful insight.
