have found a new little trick with the tri's service screen. this one is for those who feel their sound system is somewhat lacking. While on the audio screen, with the audio turned off, press L,R,L,R,L,R. This will take you to the first of the two diagnostic setups.
Now, here's the fun bit. If you go to "Car Type Setting" you will find that it will be set to the "3M25" setting. While you've got some music playing (you can press the power button to turn the music on without affecting the screens) have a play around between the different car-type settings. I've fitted aftermarket speakers and an amplifier (Alpine SPS600 speakers and a Kenwood 4ch 500W amp) to my car, and found that the 3E45 setting (#3) gave me the best sound. It has cleared up the higher levels a lot so that I get a much heavier bass-response without distortion at higher levels.
As far as I can tell this hasn't affected any other operating features of the MMCS, it has simply upped the signal quality and output from the factory head unit.
See the build up of my old Triton here.
