I have installed the brake controller as described in the threads and instuctiins, positive through a 20A auto circuit breaker to the battery, and negative to the battery. Picked up the brake wire through the left kick panel (blue with orange). Tested wire to confirm only supply current with brake pedal pressed. Then, using the yellow wire from the genuine harness I connected the brake on trailer connector. I tracked the blue wire from the genuine trailer connector and it leads to the yellow wire I tapped into behind the kick panel. (prrviously this wite had nothing attached to it and was not in use.)
Now, I have turned on the car on and all seemed well enough, no flashy dash lists or anything (I don't have a trailer or van with me to test it on) but here is where I'm having an issue.
While I was sitting still, I had the clutch pressed to the floor, and I pressed the manual brake activation switch on the controller and it made a sound like my car was kicking over (like turning the key on an already started car) when I had my foot off the clutch it never had the same effect.
Does anyone know what is causing this?
I switched off my car and turned it to reds, put the clutch in and pressed the switch have and it almost started!
Not sure about other models, but the MQ requires the clutch pressed to start the car.
Have I done something wrong or is this likely to be solved once the actual trailer is plugged in??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
A lot of guys pick it up front the brake pedal, or the brake light itself then run the wire back to the controllerjacm wrote:Hi all,
Installing a redarc tow pro elite in my MQ at the moment. Straight forward enough (Even without the plug and play harness).
The one thing that I have not worked and can't find in this thread is how and where is an easy place to pick up the brake light wire. If anybody knows the colour and location that would be great!
Cheers and thanks
