Whining gearbox 1st 2nd and 3rd

Postby jgoosen on Thu May 14, 2009 7:52 pm

I have a whine in 1st gear 2nd and 3rd gear . The whine is noticeable when taking your foot off the petrol . Its the same type of whine you get when you drop into first to quickly before stoping .My hardbody/Navara as the same whine but it only happens in first gear . Is this normal for the Triton ?

Or do I have a bloody lemmon of a 4x4 again !!!!

But let me explain the whine is not there while driving , Seems to be there only when de accelerating using engine braking . The Triton had the whine from first day of ownership also . Maybe i am looking for something to be wrong after the diff story . Maybe I am just paranoid

Right ,

Got my car back from the dealer . Only problem they could find is that the clutch is buggered and causing noises  Everything else they say is normal or fine ..

I just collected mine this morning. brand spanking new gearbox fitted... whining 1st 2nd 3rd under load. apparently
f%$ked bearings on the cluster shaft. at 98500km. :P

not bad for my regular stealer, under warranty and 3-day turn around... now the 3"...

Good to hear mate. I was going to email you to see how it all went, but didn't think it would be done that quick.

Gotta love that last 1,500km's of warranty

I must admit, it was a rather quick return. especialy after it was going in for a review of the P0302 problem. And, of course, the missus being there helped a shedload...

So I'm gonna post my 100 000km odo reading, coordinates and a location pic, I figure it to be in norhtern botswana somewhere...
