we must be thinking along the same lines glx-rsilver. im having a mechanical engineer look over mine to determine if it can be removed/modified to allow for a single tailshaft and still signed off as legal

Hey Tritonasurus removing the centre bearing crossmember would cause no end of problems as i would image you would need to get it re-enginneered to be legal as the cross member is there for strength. To be honest it wouldn't be worth the hassle. All i'm looking at is altering the bolt in cross member supporting the gearbox to lift it 10mm. I was going to weld a plate where the mounting bolts go and recess the the plate so that i can tighten up the gearbox mount bolts as there isn't enough thread to install the spacer and tighten it up.
Cheers

Just clarifying GLX. Are you trying to lift your gearbox thereby increasing tail shaft angles or drop the gearbox to decrease them. Just trying to get it clear in my own mind. Are the bolts captive in the crossmember?

The auto runs a one piece shaft. Anyone know if it runs a slip joint??

Hey greedy the standard gearbox bolts haven't got enough thread to fit a 10mm spacer between the crossmember and the gearbox mount. So i'm planning of making spacers for the crossmember to chassis to lower it, Then i'm going to weld a plate where the gearbox mount mounts with recess holes to bolt the gearbox mount lifting the gearbox back up to my required angle.
I hope you understand what i'm planning to do, when i have done it i'll post photos
Cheers

Hey Wallace as far as i know the auto tailshaft has no slip joint.

I'm starting to get the picture. It'll be easier to understand if I ever get around to concreting the floor of my shed. Pit has been dug and lined. I'll be able to get under and take a good look.
