4wd lever stuck in 4H!

Postby Bdang007 on Tue May 16, 2017 3:05 pm

Hey guys
I accidentally pushed the lever up last night and now it won't budge?? Is there a trick to moving it or any ideas on what's causing it?

Haven't had that issue in the Triton, but in Landcruisers I sometimes had to reverse for a little bit.

It is windup imo.
You drove on bitumen or sealed surface while in 4wd?
Go to some grass area or something and drive around a bit and try to pull it back out.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

Steering heavy and doesn't want to turn? Driveline windup.

Try reversing a bit, this may be enough to release it. Next step is to raise one wheel off the ground. Careful, it may spin as the windup is released.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

There is a bush in the bottom the the transfer lever that can come loose and jam things up.
Its a console out job to get at it.
Console takes about 15min to get out

You will need to pull out the shifter and put it back. Mine has now done it 4 times in 160,000km. Takes me around 20 mins to fix it each time.
