change in and out of 4wd issue?

I have a 2015 triton 4wd with a button/nob instead of a 4wd gear stick, Ive read the manual several times and it just doesn't change like the manual says. It takes random amounts of time up to 3 or 4 mins. It gets stuck in low 4 and takes even longer to get out. Two warning lights appear on the dash when it finally does come out. traction control and parallel tyre tracks which I havnt looked up. only way to fix this is restart the ute. Any ideas welcome b4 I go to Mitsubishi. Alternately is it possible to retro fit a 4wd gear shift?

Prior to this, the window fell inside the drivers door, the clutch had to be worked on and the brakes have an intermittent problem (which Mitsubishi cant find) where they refuse to let the vehicle move unless its put in low 4. Ive had the car one year from new and its got about 16k on the clock. Im getting to the point where I dont want to drive it but dont want to unload the problems onto some one else.
