2.5 Diesel Hesitation 2k-3k

Postby mmaarrkk on Tue May 04, 2010 7:53 pm

Hi guys/girls,

I have a 09 triton 2.5 which seems to almost always hesitate between 2k-3k rpm, most noticable in 2nd and 3rd gear.
at first i thought it was wind hittin the cabin, thats how it sound like wind gushes(on off on off).
Its only got 15,000kms. I have just refueled using BP diesel, and it seems not as noticable.

Could it be just bad fuel? or induction leak?

Ive read about the fan problem which i dont know if its the same sound/symptoms.

Anyone can help me?

Cheers.

Which 2.5?
Manual or auto?
Wouldn't hurt to grab a screwdriver and check all the clamps after the compressor.

Assuming it's 100kw and not the MN 4x4 131kw version?
Are you sure it's not just the boost coming on? It does come in all at once over 2000rpm when you give it more throttle.
I had forgotten after having the chip and boost for a while where it's quite seamless but it's been off for a few days and that late turbo punch is very marked.
With the chip and boost it just goes from any revs and hard.[bit noisier though]

yeh its just the 2wd.
when boost hits, you can here it. The only way i can explain it is like wind hitting the cabin and make a sound, but on and off up to about 3k then its smooth again, it does it a fair bit, but not everytime which makes it harder to diagnose.

Does the power vary with the sound coming and going?
Have you had a good look under the bonnet to see if anything is loose?
Air box, hose to the compressor and then through to the throttle body?
:?
