MY12. September build. glx with tc. Same as L200Shogun. Maybe MY12 onwards have larger diffs.

From elsewhere on the net today.
4.6 ratio 9.5" LSD from a MK bolted straight into a MN
He rebuilt the front diff, I assume swapped "gears" (not just centers)

Nice. Did you use front and rear from an mk?

Yep the rear i just pulled rear centre out and bolted in and the front I was going to run the mk axle but the have a vacuumed solenoid so I re built the front it's was [censored] hard but worked now it's great

To those in know:
I have a ML petrol with the 4.3 diffs and factory rear diff lock. I'm looking at putting on some bigger rubber and would like to reduce (increase ???) the diff ratio at a later stage. So changing out the diffs for 4.9's would give me a 14% reduction making up nicely for the 12% increase in tyre size.

So question is can I just swap out the internals for 4.9 gears from an MK triton and STILL keep my locker?

theory is yes

the ML petrol is the 9.5" rear and the crown and pinion should bolt up to the factory centre with no other changes necessary

the front- well its a bitch with 4.6 ratios to fit, unsure if the 4.9's will fit

Thanks buddy for the response, I may keep my eyes open and if I can find some cheap 4.9's I may take the risk and see what happens. Was sure you'd have a positive answer for me :geek:

Haha, yeah, I'm sure I won't have any problems finding a new home for the old 4.3's, they're a bit like hens teeth from what I can gather.

Ok, just looked at buying a 5/2013 glxr at pickles damaged auctions for its diffs... auto (so 4.11s) with diff lock. However, checking the vin (mmajykb40dd006258) with Mitsubishi reveals it has a 10 bolt rear centre. So even the mn autos with locker have a smaller diff... still want 4.3s but may have to settle for 4.11s... factory diff lock would have been nice but i don't want to go to a smaller (10 bolt) centre, as there must have been a reason mitsi gave the larger diff to the manual and the smaller to the auto. I'm guessing because the manual had 50nm more torque.

Pretty sure you'll fins those diffs are 3.9s mate not 4.1s and the mn didnt come out with 4.1

Actually I think some auto MNs did have 4.11s in them.
Also seems a bit of a mix of 10 bolt and 12 bolt diffs(9" and 9.5") Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it as the manuals and autos can have them.

Triton guru, I've had an 09 glr and a 11 glx pass thru my hands. Both autos, both 10 bolt carrier, both 4.11s. Still got the diffs from the 09 glr.

ok ty
as it looks like the petrol 3.0 or 3.5 have the exsame diff that i need in a 4.272 for the autos
as i have a 47/12 gear set
these have a 47/11 would be perfect in the autos
and the manuals have 43/10 which is 4.3 ratio

it is what mitsubishi have stated if that is your bread 350nm and 131 kw
but we all know that is horse crap i have 530nm running in mine and no problems the auto performs better imho
shifts better and is snappyer due to the different torque curve
