Poor bugger.

I thought the diff actuation actuator was inside the Passenger side kick panel where the Diff lock connector plugs are located??
I dont have a PIN either Steam.
I think thats made up... or not for us MN GLX-R lads :?

Josh.... best bet is watch the blinking light and get on and off the throttle gently and she should pop in.
If not just drive forward and back for a tick and it will. Some times she can be stubborn ;)

So dissapointing that you are all trying to justify a Diff Locker :o I have a factory one fitted have never really used it, but lets face it, the one that dies with the most toys wins, Like most things 4X4 they are for the what ifs, how many times does the average driver use their winch apart from using it for the sake of it, its about the toys, If I could I would get a locker for the hard cover so it comes up exactly square & what the hell one fo the bonnet as well.

Some people may not agree with difflocks, some wouldn't be without one.....some people like yourself have them and reckon they dont use it. ;) Thats fine if you are happy driving flat dirt roads and dont need a locker to get to where you need to go without it.........for others though, there is more to 4wding than just driving a dirt road into a national park......and for a select few nut cases  Its all about beating patrols and cruisers to the top

IMHO...if you are doing any type of 4wding from medium tracks to hardcore tracks....you MUST have a difflock (front or rear...doesn't matter) but you are doing so much more damage to tracks without some type of traction aid.
A locker allows you to drive the track while wiping off about 1/2 the speed you would normally use.......that means virtually no wheel spin and less potential damage to the vehicle and the track.

Take a look at this vid...proves the point i'm making perfectly. ;)
The first 2 (Prado and Paj) are unlocked. My Triton is front locked and the Silver Triton with just Traction control (You will notice a bit of editing for the Prado and Paj.....it took a lot longer than it seems for them to both make it up)

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

I MADE A FEATURE!!!

What Alco has said is spot on. I've made it up some pretty hairy places with just traction control (mine's the silver one in the above video), but in doing so have created a lot of wheel-spin and made life more difficult on both the track and the vehicle. That video was actually one of the TC's better moments, as sometimes it will just inhibit all forward progress and bog the motor down completely.

If I had my time again, I'd have waited the extra couple of months for the Rear diff-lock. At the time though, I needed the car straight away, so was content to get it without the factory RDL fitted. As soon as I've got the funds and the time, I'll be getting an Air-locker or E-locker (if they get around to making it) fitted to the front of my vehicle, and then either an Air-locker or trying to source an LSD for the rear.

Like RossyB07 says, it's better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them. ;)

Good example of the TC working Fraz.

Key is to remember:

I do. But it still limits the amount of power a lot of the time. I've had it stall my vehicle a few times now, which isn't the most fun when you're trying to climb a rock-step and all of a sudden there's no brake assist.

Dont take this the wrong way Duck but at the moment i dont think lockers would be a good thing for you
As your shed wish list has bash plates on it
the areas that you would be useing lockers would warrent heavy duty bash plates first ;)

In regards to the factory diff lock only being engageable in 4h or 4l, can i bypass that and do something to the relays to activate it anytime i want? also can i get rid of that silly 5km/hr speed limiter on it. I have my reasons for this.

I understand that it is possible to tinker with the electronics to get the DL going in 2wd. Note that I don't know how to do it myself, just that others have achieved it. Not sure what the 5km/h limit thing is that you're talking about.

are you sure mate. 5klm is less than walking pace and clearly not very useful in high 4x4. sure it isn't 50klm's?

Can you read schematic drawings?

Read the factory schematics and produce a bypass switch circuit to suit ;)
