My Vibration Solutions

Here's the solutions i did to fix my vibration problems with a ironman constant load suspension kit. All my spacers are made from stainless steel except my wedges plates which are mild steel.

5 degree leaf spacer wedges.

15mm talshaft spacer not to fix vibraion but to reduce load on centre bearing rubber.

Wedges fitted.

Tailshaft spacer fitted, machined with front and rear spigots to locate spacer correctly.

Rotated centre bearing as suggested by barraxt.

5mm gearbox and transfercase spacers, Cannot lift any higher due to not enough thread on gearbox mounts.

Ironman suspension kit.
Note tailshaft spacer could be 20mm thick but wanted to keep factory tailshaft bolts so decided on 15mm.

Vibration is fixed at the moment but may change when i lift front end up 20mm to allow for the nose drop with steel bar and winch.

Anyway hope this will help people who may have vibration problems.
Cheers

Hey GLX you won't have any problems if you fit spacers to the front end as you are not altering the tail shaft angles. Congratulations you have been informative with your posts and pictures of all your mods, good to see. Keep it coming. Thanks mate...8-)

glx-r, can I have the spacer measurements - bolt hole centres, spigot allowance diameters and so forth... Gonna knock one up at work, if it proves easy enough, I'll make as many as I can be arsed doing and those who want them but don't have tool shop access can have them for postage cost...

Took the Tri to the dealers today to show workshop manager the fix of rotating the bearing, mainly to make sure no warranty issue down the track,(Bunbury Mits biggest rural dealer) He confirmed that he was happy with what I had done and said he would backup the fix thus no warranty problem, also he confirmed a update is due within the week for the surging engine issues some have had, basically a software upgrade

I rotated my center bearing today but it just doesnt look right. By this I mean the bearing is hanging from the underside of the cradle now rather than being supported by it. Im sure it should be OK but it just looks wrong. That with 3 deg castor wedges and a 23mm tailshaft spacer has solved my shudder prob but. ;)

Sorry to dig up and old thread and ask a stupid question, but i installed 3 degree wedges today and to be honest it doesnt feel any different.

Just to clarify, the wedges go with the thicker part at the rear of the car?

Sounds right Saurus. That should twist the front of the diff up to the body more. I got some in my kit but forgot to put them in. I haven't heard a great deal of positives from people that have fitted them. The tailshaft spacer would fix a lot more IMO. When I undid the bolts to the tailshaft, it was constantly pulling tight on the last bolt I loosened. When undone, there was a gap of about 20mm. The spacer filled that nicely. The centre bearing rotation got rid of the rest mostly.

yea well the tailshaft spacer is the last bit i gotta do.

I have already spaced the gearbox, rotated the bearing and installed the shims.

Dobinsons said they have the spacers for $80+gst and $15+gst postage to Perth.

They're a fair chunk of steel but machined well and fit perfectly. Does that include bolts? That cost me close on $30 extra. I probably got ripped but wasn't in the mood to shop around.
