I have just purchased ICOM 450 and have a couple of questions.
- there is a spare wire [ other than power] that the manual says " to ignition" is this only needed if you are connecting directly to battery? I am going to connect to acc circuit.
- there is also an earth wire for the microphone mount , what is this for ?

I have the 400 pro so a little different, but on that one the earth to the microphone hanger was required if you wanted to scan channels. I think the idea was that if you took the mic off the hanger that meant you were going to talk on the channel you were on and wouldn't need to keep scanning. If you're not going to be scanning then chances are you won't need that one. With the other one, if you test by connecting the positive and negative to the battery and it won't fire up, and if you connect the ignition wire to the positive as well and it does fire up, then you will know it is essential. If it will turn on with the ignition wire not connected then it's optional.
