I did forget to mention the drive test.

My TRI is a manual, so I don't have the kickdown issues.

I only went for a quick squirt around the block. Turbo does seen to come in a little sooner, has certainly got a more pronounced 'whistle'

It seems to pick up revs much faster, gets to 3000rpm in the blink of an eye.

Will have to try for a few weeks & let you know how it's going.

Bye for now

I've just taken mine out momentarily - I want Mistu to look at the car tomorrow with specific attention on the manifold - wasn't going to take the risk of them finding it this time round. Anyway.. took it out and it is caked with carbon.

It might have been said somewhere before - but if this carbon is building up this much, where will it go if the EGR is blocked? I mean, is this going to cause problems elsewhere.. which might not be as accessible?

It goes out the exhaust through the turbo like 98% of the rest of it...

Thanks Alex, was hoping it was a simple answer and I didn't have to trawl through the threads.

Can't believe how much carbon had built up in just a week.

Had Mitsubishi look at my manifold today - caked in carbon. They have to get the replacement manifold from the East so I told them not to bother as I'm heading East in less time than it will take them to get the parts.

So once I get to Melb - I'll have to find a decent dealer/service department.

Just under 50,000 daryn. It was no surprise to them. Am surprised there hasn't been a recall - although I expect it won't because it only affects the performance of the engine - I wonder how many Tritons out there are gradually suffering from diminished performance and the owners aren't realising.

Just blanked the v6's off today. Will be going for a dyno soon to see if there's any gain/loss...

got a road trip coming up on Friday, so maybe it will be noticeable?

Homer, and anyone else, have you done this to the petrol and what were results? :?:

Hey Naff, I had mine done through Chadstone Mitsu - great to deal with and be sure you ask to speak to Alex (head mechanic - asian guy so the name is a little deceiving) if you head in there...

No I haven't Slim, but interested to see if you get any performance gains or throw more lights.

I'm not sure what it actually does on the V6 as far as performance changing goes...not like pumping recycled shit through a turbo, but any extra clean air can't be bad.

Keep us posted mate. Would be good if it improves low down like on the oilers.

I'd be venting for sure...... if you go back and have a look at monsters pics or Boosteds it should give you some info.
I can't remember the thread but had something about oil catch can I think???

Edit: found the thread but not the pics viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3118&p=52308&hilit=oil+catch+can#p52308

I'd be keen to know some results also slim...hopefully this will help as Homer says with cleaner air etc. Couple this blanking off with a UniFilter & a snorkel & there wont be any emissions coming out the exhaust, just butterflies!! Keep us posted mate. ;)

after a couple of k's round the burbs....

1. No disco on the dash
2. The motor does feel slightly more responsive when opening up.
3. When I let the petrol go, it dosen't have that lag before the deceleration starts.
4. Dunno about consumption.
5. It is a bit better in the low revs, and, sounds a bit smoother...

Maybe the stealer never put it back properly the last ime they did plugs... BTW, I reckon this is the only time they would ever notice. so if you got more than 60k on the clock, you're safe for the rest of the warranty. next set of plugs at 120k...

I'll have to wait for the dyno for black and white results. But I'll have some consumption figures over the next week the road trip is about 3000km round trip.

Adz, now i only gt like fkn LOUD butterflies coming out the back. ;)
