Removing front grille in GLX-R MN

Postby RockoWallaby on Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:52 pm

Hiya folks

Want to replace the horn in the car, but having a lot of issues removing the front grille.

Done a search, and found info concerning the other models, but the GLX-R has a one piece grill.
Can't get to the bottom clips without damaging something (including myself)
Any suggestions, folks? :)

Cheers
Scotty

Can you get your hand up behind the grill by taking off the bash plates? That's what I did but I have an ARB bar so I don't know if that helps you.

The thread that Crash did has the GL-R also with a single piece front grill...

fantastic mate. Only one I could find in the search was the multi piece grille.
Although the small holes and large chrome parts on my grill means I still can't reach those blasted bottom clips.
Might try feeding something up from the bottom.

Tried putting hand down from the top...sliced myself up nicely ;)
From bottom is next step.
Or feed a credit card between grill and bumper for bottom clip.
Want my bloody air horns in!! ;>

Miss them from prev vehicle...

Mate you remove the top 2 plug things and just pull the bottom out. Then you just push the bottom back in and put your top plugs back in. Sooo easy ;)

Thanks guys. I'll give it a go this weekend.

Just for the record, if you haven't had anything to do with the Stebel Nautilus air horns, and want a great replacement horn, seriously think about them. Under $50 delivered, for the compact version, including a basic loom to work with, and worth every cent.

Had the standard one on my Frontera. Easy to install, and small footprint.
Noone ever failed to hear THIS horn ;>

Im looking at the same units as well ;)
Maybe put up some photos so we can see a good mounting spot for them?

Yep, they're good. I have them, too and run them with the standard horns. BTW, this type of clip on the bottom of a grille is designed to release if you just pull straight out, dont twist - that's how you break the tabs. I do a couple a day and there are plenty that are more difficult than the Triton.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
