STEEL WHEEL PROBLEMS

Postby alan j on Mon Feb 13, 2012 1:53 pm

Hi have any of you had problems balancing steel rims?
Just had tyre shop go through five sets of 16 x 7 steelies and they still would not balance, the tyres were nothing out of the ordinary just d694s.
The guy out the back said sometimes they go through 40 rims to find four that will spin straight.
The steering wheel started to wobble badly at 90 - 110kms. I ended up having to buy alloys and this solved the problem has anyone else been through the same thing on their triton ?

I had some steel dynamics that balanced okay once they were finger balanced (aka performance balanced). They're somewhere in Queensland now after I found some alloys for <$200 a rim. :D

You can get triton 7" steelies as well, or pajero...

But yeah brand doesn't matter, just any OEM steel wheel is going to be a lot better than a sunnie IMHO. Just looks a little :?

I run dynamic steal wheels fulltime. They tyre guys seem to have trouble balancing just one of them, the weight shifts between 15-45gr each time I get them rotated :?
