Engineering Tyres in QLD???

Postby hcr83 on Wed Jul 03, 2013 7:11 am

Gday Fellas,

This probly has been done to the death but I cant find the relevant answer after 30mins of searching.
I'm looking at getting some 275/65/R18 (32's) on the Triton and have worked out that they will be 65mm bigger than standard which puts it above the 50mm that is allowed legally.

Is it possible to get these engineered in QLD (near Bundy if possible) or will they be to big to engineer?

look forward to any help on this.

Cheers HCR

Tyres have never been able to be legally increased in QLD

we used to run the gauntlet using 265/70/17 tyres under the old +15mm limits ;)

Thanks 4wd26

265/70/17 would still be illegal by 3-4mm anyway ;)

Yeh, I'm not to worried, unless you have huge stand out tyres that stick out a mile past the flares you will hardly get questioned - it all really depends on the arrogance of the cop.

With my old pajero I went from 235/75/15 (29") to 235/85/16 (32"), and had a blue plate done.
Brisbane, so not much use to you, through my local mechanic.
Talking to him about larger tyres on the new triton, and the new federal regs, not sure how we would do it.
Especially since my 2012 has ESC and ABS, special section in Federal regs cover this.
Might be easier on an earlier model without ESC.
Most people just seem to do it and worry about legalities if they arise. :o)
