brincon, you've asked the same question in two existing threads and then started this one. Seriously mate, that isn't going to make you a lot of friends, either from existing members who use this forum for reference, or from the moderators who donate their time voluntarily to tidying up a mess like this.

The first thing you need to do is some reading and then practice using Search.

There is a great index in the Tyres and Wheels sub-Forum:
http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=8401
This includes a link to a simpler way of searching for tyre sizes.

Using Search, I typed in "+305*70*16". This returned 50 matches, including one thread which has pretty much the information you're looking for. I'm not going to link the thread. Try it yourself, it's the best way to learn.

Meanwhile, I'm going ask the mods lock it before it gets out of hand.

brincon, if you copy the above search terms (+305*70*16) into our search function, it spits out quite a few replies to a specific topic on 285/305 tyres. This is the link to the actual search list below:

http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/search.php?keywords=%2B305*70*16&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

It can be a little tricky to get the hang of, but we aren't lying when we say "the information is out there, you just need to search." Our moderators donate their time to keep this site clean and easy to use. Not to be continually cleaning up new threads started by those who are impatient. I'm not having a go, just trying to reach a common middle ground.

If you need more help on using the search function, there's a handy thread here: http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7737. It gives you a pretty good idea of what you need to do in order to search efficiently and get the results you're after. ;)

i have spent good 15hours reading and going through posts and stuff trying to search. i looked at your search and out of that 48 things there only one person who has said anything helpful. i like to no alot of info b4 i go buy new rims and tyres what arent goin to be cheap. there isnt any other threads to do with just 305 70 16 tyres what i can find your search proves that. Also in the tyre section where theres all the different tyres sizes and options 305 70 16 arent there.

One of the main reasons the 305/70R16 aren't there is because no one is really running them. And if they are they haven't publicised it. Unfortunately you can't search for info that isn't there. I understand you wanting to be informed about what you're getting, as I'm going through the same troubles now trying to get a second set of wheels and tyres.

I suggest giving Kwyjibo a PM as this is the size wheel and tyre he is running. He doesn't get on here all that often, so a PM is your best bet to get a definitive answer.

I think you might run into more problems with a different offset. Puts the tyres in a different place and may foul on other areas at full lock/flex.
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

I'm letting this thread continue as the original poster mentioned- there is little info on this tyre size.

It sounds like you have the lift sorted (suspension and 25mm body lift)- you may get away with not having to modify the pinch weld- but lots depends on what offset you choose.

obviously if 305 wide is the choice then you like wide stance.

Thing is I doubt you will touch in that sort of instance (or with measurement) its only when you are going through the suspension (compression and full lock) will that be the true test.

You might be able to stage that test as well though

* using bits of wood to duplicate the "offset increase" taking into account the extra width tyre and change in rim offset.

* position the vehicle so that the weight is on the front try and get to the bump stops (don't think that will happen based on your lift)

* set the tyre up with the bits of wood and check it out.

* spin the stearing wheel as it might not be at full lock when its closest based on offset

be keen to see some pics of your triton.

just been to the tyre shop they said should be no problem and asked why the hell i wanted so big of tyre under there so i said bigger the better. i have modified bump stops in the front so im not sure about if that would change anything. tyre shop has a second hand tyre we goin to try on a rim see what the go is.

i love to put pictures on here but i dont no how i tried and it wont load them im not that clever when it comes to computer.

Those tyres are 834mm dia compared with 750mm standard.
That's a big difference for the gearing. 11.2% higher.

I'm running 850mm diameter tyres as a second set- has plenty of power to turn these, but looking forward to the transfer case gears

Ok so after reading a bit this tyre size sounds like the go. 305 70 16 with zero offset, getting rid of guards and a little cutting. I'm getting a 60mm lift next week so let's hope they fit!
Does anyone have any input to help me out here or any tips with fitting these tyres?
Any info at all would be highly regarded...

Let's face up to it mate - you're a pioneer. Not many people have found a claimed 60mm lift and not many people are going to be game to move to a tyre size that's so big, so overtly illegal and such a police magnet.

Anyway, check out the threads linked to in this index thread towards the bottom of the first list of links:
http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=8401

Might be a good idea to read up on engineering, shudder and replacing CV joints. I have a suspicion some of these will come in handy in the foreseeable future.

I think the premium offset for running bigger tyres is a +15

Sorry to confuse.

Have +15 on mine and the seem to give a little more clearance than 0. Mates set

Only 265/75's though but am looking to run same Dia as 4wd26 and was measuring. Not a real lot in it though and with 305's I think you are going to get fouling no matter what the offset.

Tyre place should be able to put tyres on different rims, at a cost of course, to try out

Your best off having a chat to kwyjibo if your looking at runnin that size as im pretty sure thats what his claws are.

Further from CDs post with regards to the engineering aspect unfortunately as a qlder your screwed for tyres. As far as im aware they cant be engineered and thats its. I believe a 60mm lift is also illegal without engineering but that will never be noticed.

I also see a CV breakage in your future. Unfortunately the combination of the CV angles with a 60mm lift and 33s will stress the joints. This isnt a certainty though.

Thanks guys, yeh I'll message kwyjibo just checked out his shed.
So you think +15 will be the best offset?
The mob who is doing my lift specialise in cv joints and we've had a big chat and yes there will be more stress with the angles it was actually an 80mm from standard lift but the best set up for me will be 60mm as this is as far as you can go before more mods are needed. As well as the lift they are putting in a one piece tail shaft so I won't have a shudder as for engineering well I'll check it out and see if I can get it done but I'll be keeping my standard wheels so if I get a pink slip then I'll have to revert back to get it off. It is a risk but one I'm willing to take.
So you guys think that with a fair bit of cutting I'm still going to get pretty severe rubbing??

no- if you are prepared to cut the pinch weld area- you can run these tyres with a zero offset. aka Kwjibo

others like to keep the steel intact- a narrower tyre and +15 offset allows for a even larger diameter increase that the 305 tyres.

so it depends on if its a look your after or clearance.

replied to your pm not long ago mate... like the others said i would suggest a different offset so there will be less work involved to make them fit :P the idea is to make the wheels clear on ALL compression and tyre direction/angles ;) otherwise its just a mall crawler... :|

Ok, thanks guys. I'd love more clearance but I think 33" is enough It's the width I'm after so 305 it is. I'm back on the coast next week and hopefully done by the weekend, so I can try these bad boys out before I'm back at work...anyone on the coast keen for a roll next weekend!?
I'll give a full update on what I done and pics when it's fitted.
Thanks for all the info guys I would of been going in completely blind and not known a thing, gotta love newtriton!

Got the 305's put in yesterday and love them, it gives a nice stance on the ute now. I went with a 25mm offset and can go full lock without any rubbing and no cutting was required at all. The wheels stick out of the flares by about an inch so it's not too bad. Overall I'm very happy with the outcome it was a lot easier then first thought. With the 65mm suspension lift that got put in on Thursday I now have a completely different ute. It handles better with a nice firm ride but not too rough and it's defentalty raised the height quite noticeably. I wish I had of measured up before the lift because it feels and looks like it's more then 65mm with the suspension lift alone, I'm guessing with the bulbar from new it must of sagged a fair bit lower then standard height

What will this type of setup do to wheel bearings? It seems like a lot of weight or even leverage further out from the hub for a little ute.
