Im about to buy 5 x Hankook Dynapro MT's for weekends and short trips. The plan was to put them on 16x7 Sunraysia's, +15 offset, for about $90 each....and it still might be.
I'll be keeping the factory alloy's as my daily drivers, and hopefully putting decent AT at some stage. That will leave the muddies for mud & rock driving, instead of running them down on bitumen.
Im a little put off by the stories of extra weight = worse braking, and balancing problems. Not so concerned about cracking alloy vs bending steel.
How much worse is braking performance with steels vs alloys?
Do steelies really affect economy by a detectable margin?
I've got my knickers in a twist a bit about sticking with alloy for weight, performance & so forth.
I can't find any 5 spoke Prado 90 series wheels at the moment, and might even consider those ugly 3 spoke Prado Grande wheels , as I can get 5 for $500 in Melbourne.
Should I just stick with Sunraysias? I've got Bendix HD pads ready to go on, and will prob put DBA slotted rotors on soon too.
Hit me with opinions.
