2012 Triton - Aftermarket Wheels

Postby Ferret on Sat Aug 02, 2014 12:04 pm

Hi guys,

Quick question, my brother is buying a 2012 Triton and it has these 20" aftermarket wheels on it. Can anyone identify who makes these wheels or what they are?

Also we've been told that any wheels that are 6 stud are rated for light commercial vehicles (1 ton), is that correct?

Thanks guys

Hmm, good work dealership... They went and bought new tyres for it after it was traded, good to know they were careful to get ones that were properly load rated.

The wheels aren't great, they looked better once detailed but still probably going to powdercoat the blue bits black to make them a bit better. Just keen to find out if the wheels are properly load rated and won't cause issues down the track

That was nice of them

BTW on a side note, I suggest your brother buys some clear contact (you can buy specific stuff for utes) and put on the lip of his tub and around the tonneau eyes as it doesn't take much to wear through the paint. Would show up pretty badly I would think on a dark colour ;)

Lady I used to work with had 22" wheels on her black GLX-R... And a 4x4 sticker on the tail gate

Are you sure they aren't properly load rated? If they are load rating 111, isn't that for 1090kg per tyre?

Assuming they are the 275/45/20 as they are 20" wheels

I think the tyres are rated correctly as the mitsi brochure states on the standard 245/65R17 tyres being rated at 111S and those 20’s are 111V. The letter is the speed rating and the higher the letter the greater speed rated.

Have no fear ferret ;) , just don't take them offroad

Haha, don't think we'll be doing much off-roading with those wheels
Most off-roading it'll be doing is on a muddy job site!

Another question, should we be concerned about the warranty being affected by the ridiculous wheels?
