Do 265/75R16 tyres fit?

Need something to get you rolling?

yep. That's what most people have found. If you have GPS, check against that. I use my GPS as the speedo as I'm still on standard tyres
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

no gps, ill have to get my misses to follow me in her car to check..
that would mean in the long run say in 5 years i would have done say 120,000kms but the odo will only show say 110,000kms...

cant be too bad when it comes time for resale i guess

My odo is out the same as the speedo.
I have checked it about three different ways and they all read the same. they are linked by one cable so if one is out the other will be too.

I reckon the reason for everything being out is they (mitsubishi) can claim better mileage figures. I mean how many of you are actually getting the 9.1 litres per 100 k that they claim. IT'S ALL A CON i say.

I took mine back as most of you have and they told me it was in there range of 10%. I told him that was bullshit and as soon as i told him my theory he went very quite and agreed to see what he could do. UPROAR
Thats off my chest. cheers for reading. :D

mine are the 245s don't forget. so they are a bit smaller. 245 is width 75 is 75% of width is the height of the side wall. the overall height is approx 750mm but im not old enough to work out the inches

I find it very easy to get better than 9.1 lt/100km around town.
My normal driving is usual 1/2 city 1/2 open road a get low 8's so even allow for your theory that the odometer being 10% it not hard to achieve the stated fuel econony.

Nifty

I am getting new tyres and steel rims, and was wanting to get the 265/75/16. Wow, There is sooo much info on the tyre topic, but I still can't quite find the right answer. My mechanic who i was going to order the tyres through didn't think this size tyre would fit and wanted to check it out first. So I took up a spare that my dad has (265/75/16 Cooper ST) to prove him wrong and we tried fitting it. I was sure it would fit because its the most common tyre size that everyone is running on here. However to my surprise, it rubbed on the inner guard when steering at full lock. :o So how has everyone fitted theirs? Does it come down to the rim and offset? My mechanic reckons that this wouldn't make a difference when steering, he reckons this only affects how far it sits out, i.e. whether it fits within the guards or not.
If it does come down to the rim, what type of rim and offset is everyone running with their 265/75/16
Cheers,
Josh

I ran 265/75/16 on standard rims when I picked my ute up from the dealer and no rubbing so i'm not sure what the problem would be.

+38 offset is standard with a 7.5 inch wide rim.
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

The problem is offset. You need wheels with less offset then standard to effectively move the tyre out so it doesn't rub on the inner guard. It's possible, Josh, that the one you tested had too much offset. What kind of vehicle did it come from?

What part of the tyre rubbed where?

With zero offset the outside of the tyre rubs on the inside of the mudflap/guard on full lock.

I reckon +20 or so would be perfect?
