That could be interesting. Can you take a video of trying to fit a wheel with 4 or 5 holes with a spacing of 114.3mm to a Triton with 6 holes in a diameter of 139.7mm?

It's ok. Apparently there is a solution...............

If you're talking about the centre bore then there are rings available which adapt the size of your wheel to that of the hub. If the size of the hole in the wheel is smaller than that needed then it can (usually) be machined out to suit.

The Triton is hub-centric, so the wheel, or the adapting ring, must fit exactly on the hub in order to maintain centring of the wheel.

a) Yes.
b) Most sizes are on Ebay

Thanks for the quick reply - I just looked up the centre bore numbers...um yeah. Like quite a big difference.

My understanding, and I'm quite happy to be told otherwise by someone more informed is that while yes the Triton (and most other cars) are hub-centric with stock wheels and wheel nuts you can run them without adapter rings by:

1- Balancing the wheel off the stud holes instead of the center bore
2 - Using cone ended wheel nuts instead of the OEM ones (see pic below)

For most people It's probably good practice to use hubcentric adapter rings, especially if you leave it up dealerships, dodgy mechanics and tyre shops to service your vehicle, they may not realise the importance or take the care to properly let the wheel nuts centre the rim correctly.

This happend to a friend of mine about 6 months ago, he has non hubcentric wheels and his mechanic didn't centre the wheel correctly, he lost the rear wheel doing 80kph! Luckily nobody was hurt.

However if you're the only one that touches your vehicle and are aware of properly centering the rim, then there will be no reason to use hubcentric rings. I've been using non hubcentric rims with no adapters for years, without any problem.

I think that the key thing is what srb said about not using the adaptors being ok only if you can be sure that anyone touching your car will properly centre with the nuts. Given that most members here can't guarantee that I'll always recommend use of the rings on a better safe than sorry basis.

Makes sense and totally agree with that approach and he basis for giving the advice you did. I was more just worried that I'd been doing something dangerously wrong for years and that my wheel was going to suddenly fall off

Thankfully working on the mines I've had a wheel fall off the work landcruiser before thanks to shoddy workmanship, so I know what they feel like when they're off-center!

will late model ranger wheels fit an mq triton?
same pcd, but ranger offset is +55mm vs the tritons +38mm
concerned that the ranger wheels may rub on the suspension or something else

The only way to be sure is to try.

I think it's more likely that they'd foul the brake calipers.

the ford rims do fit the triton BUT and it is a big BUT

this will move the rim and tyre inward which is ilegal, and will look funny.

you can increase the track width- but you must not reduce it.

I have had nothing but issues with mine so i bought some hub rings. They did help, but also my tyres were crappy comforsers. To suit the steelies I got ID=67.1 and OD=110. I have since changed to alloys which were also a 110 bore so i used the same rings.

hey just brought some 16x8 with off set off +0 for my MR that arrives next week .i put them on my mn just to see what they looked like and stick out quite abit like 50mm hope they have sold me the right offset anybody have any info on the new model off set

the MR with the solid flares might not cover the tyres as well as the clip on factory flares we have seen in the past

oh shit just droped over 2k with the wranglers on them they suggested that 0 offset will work .just emailed them as they where and online job

Most likely not with that offset. Believe -12 or -22 can work with the 15” rims depending on rim type/ shape

Whats the largest factory diameter offered by Mitsubishi for these tritons? I can see rim sizes but cant see any factory tyre options mentioned anywhere.
