I picked up a couple of second hand bfg ATs today, on close inspection in between the tread block there is lots of little cracks ! no cracks on the sidewalls, however they do seem really dry and hard..
plenty of tread on them but I think there quite a few years old..
what are people's thoughts ? should be right ? or not worth the risk ?
cheers

Hit up bfg and ask them mate. I had a great experience with them, had a crack/split in the side wall of a tire and they paid for part of a replacement

On one side of the tyre there will be a 4 digit code moulded into an oval.
This is the manufature date.
A code like 0209 means the 2nd week of 09, so roughly early Jan 2009.
6 years is the common use by date for tyres but i run my cooper stt's for 8 odd years. They were pretty useless by then in the rocks and on road as they were very hard

Hi,
Guys just wondering. I haven't had the chance to get to a dealer to have the car looked at.
But I've got what sounds like a clunking noise coming from the diff area. It happens when the car is cold mostly, and happens both through acceraltion and deacceraltion.
Does anyone know what it could be, and I'm hoping it comes under warranty.

What model, how many Ks? Could be backlash in the rear diff or maybe uni joint?

At 80k I'm not sure? If its a uni you will hear a squeak as well, Diff centre will produce more of a whine. Easy way to check for back lash is to park it on flat ground, chock wheels and leave in neutral then slide under and grab the tail shaft and twist it back and forth and see how much movement you get. If its a uni you will see the tail shaft move but not the pinion, but if they both move together excessively then it may be backlash issues.

33's on standard MN 17"GLXR rims?

Postby Dan13 on Wed Oct 25, 2017 1:08 pm

Does anyone have any images of this particular combination of tire and standard rim?

The image on this website shows the rims I'm referring to.

Does anyone know why my rear wheel would feel like its wobbling?

I recently got a Tyre fitted to the rim and was balanced. The wheel nuts are all tight and haven't done any off roading since they were fitted. They were fine when I drove out, but recently I can feel a wobbly around 20km/h+ it does get worse as I go faster, any ideas?

I've got a vibration in my steering wheel from 80+ apparently it's a common occurrence in vehicles with disc fronts and drum rears. Apparently means the breaks need to be shimmed, might be the same issue ?

Has anyone had any experience with WINRUN tyres, specifically the MT305 mud terrain ?

Looking at getting new tyres, and noticed these pop up in my search, they are really cheap, about $100 less than most others.

Are they cheap for a reason?

Any experiences/comments would be great

Just an update on the wobbly Tyre situation.

So turns out that the Tyre was 10 or so years old and when it heated up from driving and turning etc, It "Egged" or "warped" in the center, making it obviously out of place. The Tyre guy said I was lucky the Tyre didn't blow!
