Raw 4x4 suspension

Raw 4x4 suspension

Postby 2012triton on Mon Dec 24, 2012 12:14 am

Hi all. I have recently put raw4x4 lift in my mn triton. I was wondering if anyone who has bought raw4x4 had any issues with the protecting rubber boots coming off the front struts? I have had both my strut towers out 3 times in the last 300km but the boots just keep coming off? Any assistance would be great.

How do you have the washers set up on the strut. Are you able to take a photo?

Sorry buddy having some issues with putting a photo up. I can email you the photo. The washer is sitting under the the rubber mount which the rubber boot is ment to be sandwiched between the washer and the rubber mount. I beleive since been i have watching the rubber boots, the rubber mount moves when the car is flexing the mount slowly pushes the rubber boot out and not to be located. I had a suspension shop assemble the strut towers for me. the suspension shop said that the washer is not a large enough washer to hold the rubber boot. I agreed with him as the boot does not have to be stretch over the washer that much to fit the boot.

I don't have any Raw4x4 boots, but believe it may be similar in concept to our Navara boots. I have taken a quick photo below to show how it's laid out. You should have the washer that the boot sits on. Ontop of this there should be a small washer to fill the gap and finally a larger curved washer to sit under the bush. This will locate everything properly and stop the bush pushing the boot off.

To be honest I prefer to use the original Triton dust boots and washers. They are only a half boots but work well depending on the type of seal used on the strut.

The dust boot hanging down is more aesthetic concern than anything. As long as you get in and clean around it, you will not have any issue with it sitting down over the Christmas break.
