Price for Suspension?

Postby 4wd26 on Wed Feb 06, 2008 12:47 am

All,
I'm currently in the market for some suspension and wondering what the people are paying for the different manufactures out there.

I've got a couple of leads on some "custom" suspension, I'm not after big lifts 2" is what I've asked to be quoted on.

But I'm keen what the custom kit is worth compared to the likes of OME, Ironman and Dobinsons.

p.s would need the price of the dobinsons springs (rear leafs) as a separate item as the items I'm sourcing only have the front struts and rear dampeners.

I will let the cat out of the bag when I get my quotes back.

Cheers

Mate I have been at the same stage for bloody months now and I cant decide which way to go. Been pretty keen on the TJM XGS gear. Apparently gives a fraction more lift than the OME and has larger diameter shocks. Quoted $1600 fitted including wheel alignment. Was also quoted that price for the OME.

i am waiting on tough dog(4 way suspension) to come out ,quicker the better, some potholes or rough bitumen throws the triton offline pretty easily ,so iam persuming the shockies (bloody skinny things)are not up to it,that and the steering wheel wobble makes a 300klm drive a bit tireing:(

Hi SJP,
Do you have a price on the tough dog suspension?

Buzzy
thanks for the prices on the TJM and OME. The stuff I'm looking at is a bit more than that (I'm guessing but is a premium product.

Price for Suspension?

Postby 4wd26 on Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:50 am

Just got off the phone to one of my contacts :)
bilstein suspension is now available for the ML triton.
Will give a 40mm lift at the front, with various coils available depending on accessories.

Cost is not too bad, in fact better than the prices above, but they suggest the rear leaves get a makeover (reset) since there new rather than replacing them.

Sounds pretty good, I contacted ATS Geelong for the above information.

Now waiting for the price on the other product which is better (adjustable) :o

I was waiting for the prices to come back on the other brand.

BUT the Prices I have for the Bilstein Suspension is as follows.
Shocks Front $250 each (includes a special bracket?)
Shocks Rear $180 Each (includes a special sleeve?)
Coils (40mm lift) $220 Each (various spring rates available to suit various equipment (bullbar, stock batteries etc)
Recommended to get the original rear leaf pack "reset" as the are new and this would be an inexpensive option around $320 for both

Total for the Bilstien kit from ATS $ 1620

Cheers for that.

Hardly cheaper than the dobinsons kit though mate especially when you consider that it also includes new leaves ;)

Time will tell if they're worth the extra $$$ I suppose. I've only driven mine ~15ks with the new gear so I'll hold out on the full review but first impression is 8-)

I have also looked into the Bilstein but what I,ve heard is that they dont have a front strut assembly for the Triton. When you get the Bilstein suspension they use another brand for the strut eg: Dobinson and then use the Bilstein shocks etc. Thats why I turned away from them, I want a complete package from the same manufacturer.

Those prices are supply only.
I have heard good things about Bilstein on the Pajeros, so I was leaning toward this myself.

I will have to look into what Buzzy had to say though, as I too would like a "all in one package".

Cheers

Dobinson quoted me as follows (excluding shipping)

1 C43-188 Front Coil Spring (Pair) 84.50 84.50
2 GS43-800 Front Shock Absorber 76.20 152.40
2 L43-015-R Rear Leaf Spring 145.60 291.20
1 PB43-1085K Rear Polyurethane Bush Kit 40.28 40.28
2 UB43-701K Rear U-Bolt Kit 16.20 32.40
2 GS43-801 Rear Shock Absorber 63.50 127.00
2 SK43-037 Rear Shackle Kit 19.57 39.14

Since this is for export, I'm not sure if you need to include local sales tax.

Price for Suspension?

Postby 4wd26 on Wed Feb 13, 2008 11:37 pm

Well just got off the phone to the local ralliart dealer and have now sourced the price for the ralliart suspension kit for the triton delivered to Australia as $6714 AUS inc GST.

Now this kit took a bit of tracking down as I had a friends wife translate a page from Japanese, which gave me the "cross country" part and below is the link in English that I found.

http://www.ralliart.com/06topics/06news/06057_triton-sus.html

Price in Yen is only 330,000 so there is a fair markup on the item going through the local sources (roughly $3500 AUS)
With the product code it should be able to be sourced at a better price.

Interestingly according to the local ralliart dealer a kit has been purchased in Australia, own up if you have it fitted 8-)

More likely "Pickering" or someone in the Australia safari.

Cheers,

To my way of thinking if you could get the Ralliart kit for 3-4 grand I would do it in a heartbeat.

Its been designed specifically for the vehicle to do what I want, HIGH SPEED gravel road travel.

At double the price of the ARB etc, BUT with remote gas canisters and adjustable height, its just so much more practical than anything else on the market.

keep it low for the week, helps with the CV angles and shudder, wind it up for the weekends. Quite easy to do, just like a motorbike - using the wrench wind up the spring to adjust height.

Mind you at the price Mitsubishi want to charge I'll leave it alone, BUT I will still check out costs direct from Japan.
