Ok suspension is totaly standard, car has just clicked on 16,000kms
running Mickey Thompsons MTZ 265/75R16's

Front- 550mm even both sides
Rear- 590mm even both sides

will start researching suspension soon but i want another 2 inch's in the back and the front matching the rear so probly need 4' in the front

85.., Your best to have about 50mm difference between front and rear, never level.

As soon as you put a load in the back the front will be up higher which is what you do not want, and also supposedly the whole handling dynamics of the Triton/dual cabs is designed around the back being higher.

yeah i was wondering about the correct angle for those reasons...
ill have to ask all those questions when its time for the upgrade, the only thing i tow is a dirt bike, other than that its an every day car for private use so sees no work other than a few fire trails and transport for the dirt bike

Goes in this Thursday for Suspension work.
Just going to do the following. Not after a huge lift.
Change out springs in front.
New rear shocks.
Add extra leaf to stock leaf setup in rear and reset to match front after new springs.

I'll update after the work is complete.

Suspension Upgraded yesterday.

RF - 590
LF - 590
RR - 620
LR - 620

Used West Coast Suspension shocks and front coils.
Had original leafs reset.
Rear shocks are double sealed and long travel.

Time will tell. This set up is mainly for towing.

Binksy,

How far off the bump stops are you up front with 590 ?

Also, dont forget to look at your rear brake lines, at full articulation they are now going to be stressed.

Thanks Daryn
I'll check it out.

Not sure if not having flares makes a difference to where I am getting my readings.
You guys (GLXR owners) measure to the inside of the arch? or to the flare?

Thanks to 4wd26 I had his old springs installed today in the front. I didn't want a lift, the rear is high enough but just wanted to return the front back to what I'd lost with bullbar and winch, plus a bit.

Before: FR 525
FL 520

After: FR 545
FL 545

It's not a huge lift but at least it now sits nearer to level, rather than nose down. Very happy with the look now.

Edited.   Yours 4wd26. This whole business of everyone having two names just confuses me. :? :? I think it looks much better, back to around stock height, maybe a little more. With some gear in the back it should sit nice and level. Only had a short run this afternoon but it doesn't seem to have the same floatiness in the front, as though these springs are better matched to the rears.

Yes Wallace, it is a little nose down but nowhere as much as before and the back is empty, as is fuel. I'll see how it goes and give you a call after I try these out for a while.

have you thought about installing 6mm spacers to the top of the struts to level it out, im looking into this soon as there is enough room between the bumpstops and with the 6mm spacers i reckon mine will sit almost dead level.

i have a mate with the machine to cut them out so if anyone else is interested i can look into it.

Why do you want your triton to sit dead level ?

They are not designed for that handling wise and what will you do when you carry a load, you will then be nose up tail dragging.

More than one suspension specialist advised me to have an ideal 50mm difference between front and back.

I can not remember what the stock susepsion heights were but it was sh?t.
Fitted the dobinson 188 at the front and dobinson medium weight at the rear.
Unloaded heights
Front 520
Rear 610
With the newer taller 190's at the front and a 18mm spacer at the rear,
Loaded heights
(and I mean loaded, about 750-800kg of pay load, extra fuel, water, tyres and every thing you need on long range trips.) 8-)
Front 560
rear 600
With the softer spings in the rear it all still flexes good off road 8-) 8-)
I am VERY happy with it.

My results after the Tjm Xgs gold install.

Before
540mm front
575mm rear
after
Front 590mm
Rear 615mm

They installed 150kg springs and 250kg leafs in the rear .The reason for the 150kg springs is that my bar and winch will get installed in the next two weeks .

The ride is a bit hard , but its handles a 1000times better .

jg,

if you have 590 in front you must be sitting on bump stops, check it out.

Yes they are right up against the bump stops ,but the hight should drop plenty with the bar and winch .

As long as you know because until that will also effect your current ride with continual hitting of them

Stage II of the unplanned suspension upgrade saw new Lovells shock absorbers installed today (yes, the day after the Brindies trip and the day after I reshaped the sidesteps to a nice even convex shape looking for some challenges for the next trip).

Anyway the Lovells fronts have an optional spacer that instals below the spring seat and is supposed to give 15mm lift.

Heights before were with Ridepro front springs and standard everything else. The springs caused the standard shocks to give up the ghost, or maybe just hastened the inevitable.

Ride is quite a bit firmer, but not uncomfortably so and handling is an awesome improvement. Seasick tablets no longer required.
