It's a bit difficult to give you suggestions/recommendations without knowing what you want to achieve, and why.

So, what do you want? Why?

Best to speak to a suspension specialist so you can match new spring rates to your OME shocks and your load carrying needs... No good guessing as you're likely to make it handle like poo.

If you're wanting to put 33s on then you're going to have to lift it to the maximum 50mm and also remove front mudflaps. You will need to get this engineered and approved if you want your vehicle roadworthy/ legal. Totally not worth it in my opinion, but some people think so.

Hello all, I'm looking at getting a 2' lift. Leaning towards the Dobinsons kit or Fulcrum. (Australian made) Will do the upper control arm too. Recommendation of upper control arm brand?

Any feedback on either is appreciated. I just want to get it installed and have no problems. Do I need extended brake lines front and rear?

Any advice or warnings of things to avoid or not do also appreciated.

Where does the lift height come from? Is it the spring or strut? Is the strut longer?

The lift comes from extension of the strut, this being the result of longer or stronger (or both) coils. Downsides are that you lose extension from rest and CV angles operate in a more extreme range. There are fixes for both of these but the issues are not severe if lift is limited to around 50mm and so most people don't bother.

G'day guys,

I have a 2013 MN Dual Cab which I have recently had a 2" bilstein kit installed (HD coils on front). As part of the lift, I also had Superpro Lift Correction Upper control arms fitted (not adjustable) for better alignment control, and also replaced my lower control arms (standard) as the existing bushes and ball joints were worn and it was only $50 more to buy new arms.

I was running 265/70/16 tyres on original factory rims (+46 offset) at the time. After the install of the new arms and lift, my front tyres were scrubbing on the UCA at full lock. I went to +25 steelies under the recommendation of my local tyre shop who did my alignment, and my front left is still scrubbing on full lock.

I have researched this and haven't come across anybody with a similar problem. Has anybody got any ideas?

Talk to Superpro or whoever did the lift for you. They should have told you that their UCAs would hit the wheels.

Was looking for a 2" lift kit for my 07 ML... Do we still as members get any from of discount?

Was hoping to get something for around the 2k mark I'd put it in. Guys at TJM where I live are quoting about 2500 installed for tough tog or TJM.

No, Brendan left and started his own online biz call Select 4wd products.. Brendan still supplies Ultimate suspension kits for just under 2k... Best to use them rather than dealing through Ultimate. Unfortunately, Ultimate aren't what they used to be when it comes to customer service.

Last August I bought a suspension kit for my MQ from Ultimate and I found their customer service good. We were in Covid lockdown in NSW/ACT and unable to get the car to a suspension shop, I decided to get the kit freighted to me and I would install myself. Yousef at Ultimate promptly answered my many questions and suggested a kit that was suited for my needs. The kit arrived promptly, but there was a part missing on arrival and Yousef had the replacement in the mail 3 days later. I've had the kit installed for about 3 months and so far very happy with the results.
The kit cost me about $2100, freight was $150. I mentioned that I was a NewTriton member and they didn't charge me for front strut assemble, saved about $220.

Thanks. Now a not so quick question. I’ve clocked up 100000km on the Ultimate lift and it’s finally given up so I’m replacing it with the Superior Engineering remote reservoir adjustable setup with EFS springs. The problem is the upper control arm fouls on the spring seat which I didn’t see coming so I’m looking for recommendations on an aftermarket tubular UCA. I’ll call Superior on Tuesday when they open to see if they have a solution but I thought I’d check here in the meantime. 2013 MN.

Yeah, call Superior. Unbelievable that they market a product that doesn't fit.

Having said that I have seen other remote reservoir units that needed to be rotated to clear. Still pretty ordinary design in my opinion.

Little update for anyone interested in this. I had the spring seat set all the way down so I wound it up about two inches so it sits above the UCA (My bad). Still not much room for error and I now have virtually zero down travel, no droop stop with a 5mm gap and crazy CV angles but the struts are in. I’ll let it settle for a while but I’ll probably still replace the upper control arms though so I can wind it down a bit.

Be interested in knowing the ride height. Measure from centre of wheel hub to underside of wheel arch.

Bursons have reasonable CVs and will probably do a discount deal for a good repeat customer.

I have an ML 3.5 V6 manual. There's not a lot of info for the V6 and I have been searching but it seems hard to find.

How is the shudder on these with a lift? I was thinking of going the one piece tail shaft but read it wouldn't work on the V6 because there's a cross member in the way.

Anyone have experience lifting on of these old girls and how did you go with shudder? I guess the centre bearing is in the same spot so would be the same as any other manual.

I really just want it level so perhaps a 10mm strut spacer in the front is all I need? Not really an "off roader" and cant see myself ever really flexing it up, as long as I can get up muddy dirt driveways on a hill that's all I really ask of the 4x4 system.

I do like the look of a 2" lift though, helps when getting through the coles car park.

Yes, I had one, same as yours. With a 2" Ultimate Suspension lift there was minor shudder on take off. Rotated centre bearing and installed drive shaft spacer in front of diff. Wedges came with the suspension kit but you may need to specify. IIRC mine were 3.5deg. After all that the shudder was still there but barely noticeable. If I put more than 100kg in the tub it disappeared completely. One piece tail shaft is an option but usually not necessary. There is a mod to change the height of the centre bearing. Search for it and let me know if you want the pictures, which I have.

No you don't. These things are designed to sit down in the front a little. That's so that when you load up the back you can still steer it. The nose down attitude also makes a noticeable difference to fuel consumption, ride, steering and handling. Believe me, I've driven quite a few that had longer or heavier springs in the front to "level up" and, compared to mine, they were pigs on the road. Spacers on the front will only make it worse.

This is with +300kg leaves. If you go a little softer it will sit down a touch more and shudder should be almost nil.
