What, exactly, did you do to them? Intentionally or unintentionally?

I think he means he has bolted them up/attached them and now can't line up the axle?

Yes, maybe....

I don't remember having any difficulty lining it all up when I did mine. Did front hangers first, from memory, and then may have just jacked axle up to springs. Maybe then shackles at rear. I definitely didn't have a tailshaft spacer at the time - that went in later to reduce the shudder.

Kinda hard to know exactly what the problem is, but this pic was taken at the time I did mine and everything just mated up fine.

Do you have the axle supported by stands or a trolley jack? When doing vehicles on the floor, we normally put stands under the chassis and use a trolley jack under the axle. This way you can move the axle back and forth to locate the centre bolts. When you locate one side, don't do the U/Bolts up tight. This will make it really hard to locate the other side.

Thanks ultimate I'll give that a crack tonight, we had just one wheel up but looks like that must have been what was stopping us from moving the axle forward as the other wheel was still on the ground....

Hi guys what type of centre pin do we have in our leaf springs? Are they riveted or bolted? Also any advice on taking a leaf out of the leaf spring pack would be greatly appreciated as my car is rigid as hahaha

It's just a centre bolt. Not riveted or pressed in. Post up a photo of your springs and I will point out which leaf to remove.

here ia a couple of questions
1/ is there a conversion kit to convert to coil springs on the rear from leaf
2/ can a leaf spring be made to have the same characteristics as a coil eg soft to a point then firmer allowing flex and load carrying

Hey guys, pretty new to tritons. Trying to decide weather or not to get a 2 or 3 inch lift. Pro's and cons of 3 inchs over 2? Any input is appreciated :D

I think you'll struggle to find a 3" lift if you're referring to a suspension lift.
The majority have an approx 2" suspension lift (mine is from Ultimate Suspension), I also have a 1" body lift to get that bit more clearance because I have 33" tyres.

Yeah unless you do a full rebuild of the front end with different control arms, a diff drop and steering mods; a 3"lift doesn't work. Stick to a 2" lift and I believe you will be more than happy with the results.

I went into arb, they said they wouldnt do it but recommended a place to me that would (no idea how much the engineering cert would be though. But also i have seen a triton for sale that had 2-4 inch adjustable suspension, would that lift or something different? (Drive with 2 lift on the road and put it up to 4 offroad?)

Monster Rides sells adjustable suspension from 2" to 4". If you read the fine print they recommend 3" as the max. If you do set it at 3" you lose down travel.

Climb under you Triton and look at the suspension. The travel is limited by the two rubber stops bump and droop. The more you lift the closer the control arm is to the droop stoop.

This is what a bit over 2.5" lift looks like

And this was 3.5" looks like

also have a look at these two threads.
New Tritons with higher trim heights
Ride Heights lots of these 2" lifts end up in the 2" to 3" range.

Mate unless you have $$$ you need to be getting rid of (for engineering certification), get a 2" lift. PM Ultimate ^^^ and they can sort you out, They are a highly recommended forum sponsor

Watch from 45 to 55 seconds to see why you need room for the control arm to move. Big lifts might impress your mates but don't work too well off road. YMMV

Adjustable suspension doesn't really work like this.

If you wind it up from 2-4, all you do is gain 2" extra clearance with 2" less down travel. The vehicle will actually be less capable off road and will get crossed up very easily.

I used to do a demonstration on this with out old 100 series landcruiser. This vehicle had a rear airbag conversion and the height could be adjustable from 2" below standard to 4" above.

When set to 2"below standard, the vehicle got further up the flex ramp than at any other height. A 2"lift was very good and 4" lifted a wheel near the start. Some people say clearance is king, but in my opinion suspension travel is more important than height.

Sworn to a little bit of secrecy as I know the fabricator making them for a certain well known company.
First kit will compromise of a 25mm drop diff (uca's and diff track arms) which gives the guys with 2" - 2 1/2 lift kits flatter cv's .
Second kit will compromise of 4" x-member/diff drop and a full custom UCA so you can still run all the standard spindle and running gear - unlike the Thai cast spindle that is absolute shit!!
These kits will be cnc cut and folded and welds like WELDPORN not some little Thai guy with some plate steel and an angle grinder and gasless mig putting them together .

I'm told that Xmas is going to be the earliest :D
Happy days ahead
