Fixed it......!!!
As in my previous post, my 2007 Triton was also misfiring & losing power in the 2200 - 2400 rev range,
Took it to the mechanic for it's 140k service & was told to take it to mitsubishi as it was a computer problem.
( wont be going back there any time soon )
Was speaking to a guy at work who is a Diesel Mechanic & said it would be my EGR Valve ( Exhaust Gas Recirculation )
It would be blocked up with carbon / oil etc & will need to be removed & cleaned.
It took me around 2 - 3 hrs ( will be quicker next time ) He was right, there was almost a full dust pan of crap through the valve & manifold it bolts to, amazing it ran at all.
Note: Disconnect the battery before removing the valve.
I didn't & the ute wouldn't start, would turn over but not fire. It got the better of me & after lots of phone calls & google searches, I thought I will turn this over untill the bettery gives up. It took about 4 long sessions but it started with a shutter & initially blew a fair bit of smoke. I was told the computer registers that something is wrong with the emmissions control system ??? But, disconnecting the battery apparently solves this.
End result - the ute runs smoothly through all rev ranges with no loss of power or splutters.
For some reason I cant insert pictures ?? Any tips ?
