MK fuel economy

Postby igorzilla on Wed Apr 03, 2013 7:43 pm

Hi everyone i just recently purchased a 2005 Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R MK turbo diesel, and i was wondering what is the average kms you get out of it.

I filled up mine on good Friday to the brim and now am almost to half a tank and only done about 230kms out of it, so i have no idea if this is normal or something wrong with car..

There is a few threads going on fuel economy at the moment & seems that the usage differs considerably, I get 520 k's to a tank mind you the V6 :) But you may find that ther is something you can do but I'll let the oilers chime in to give you the good oil   But no doubt you will get a few opinions, or just do a search on fuel economy & set aside a few hours to read it all :D

So Duck missed the MK bit, :?

HVAC shot himself in the foot with the dig at the far superior ML

And neither of you picked up this is in the sandpit area

Welcome Igor :D

Great to see you're using the practice area we have set aside 8-)

Unfortunately there is not a lot of information here for the MK but there are quite a few ex-owners and some who still have them around here. Best bet would be to either tack into one of the existing threads about fuel economy or start a new thread (maybe the mods could move this one??) adding MK into the title as the info you are looking for could easily get swallowed up in the my ml/mn is better than your mn/ml economy craptacular

Here's the current economy thread (mostly ML/MN though)

I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Used to have the 2.8 turbo diesel pajero, so same basic set up.
Ran 235/85/16 tyres.
Like all turbo diesels, take it easy and you get good economy.
Best on the highway at legal limits was about 10l/100k, could get it under 9l/100k trying hard at 90km/hr.
About 11 to 12l/100k around town taking it easy.
Very easy to go up to 14l/100k around town.
Son used to regularly get 15 or 16l/100k, but then it wasn't his fuel. :o)
Sitting on 120, about 13l/100k.
