K&N Apollo anyone ?

Postby Duck on Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:05 am

Good morgin all,

I made some enquiries yesterday about getting a new exhaust & was told ( having limited mechanical knowledge & even less on exhaust's ) That I should just go the back half new back cat to tail ? But he said that I should put in a K&N Apollo system in :o I did some research & they look good & cost $100 bucks & the utube videos look great, but did a search & a few people were talking about them in here some time ago but couldn't find anyone that had put one in to get some feedback. :?

It's a cold air intake system... Pod style. Not legal as far as I'm aware. Not really sure how an exhaust and that pod setup is comparable.

I run one on my Pajero 2.5, definitely improved throttle response and sound, more mid range on the older tech 4d56t.
That said I can't see the point on the triton, I reckon a finer filter in the standard airbox and snorkel will do the job easier.
The Apollo does make the filter harder to access for cleaning as well.

I have been fined for having k&n style pod on my old v8 disco
I was told there legal if contained in a box.

I'm running a Kn filter in my airbox with a snorkel and have noticed a difference, especially on take off and when revving higher. It breaths better and I get a great noise ( turbo ) from the top of the snorkel. Great reasonably cheap addition to my car.
