Red Dirt Diesel

Postby lowfly on Mon Sep 01, 2014 11:09 am

Hi,
Has anyone tried the Red Dirt Diesel tuning chip and if so what are your thoughts.
Is it another chip that has been rebranded or a complete new design.
They state that stage 1 gives you an increase from 131 to 148 kw and 400 to 470nm and stage 2 is 152kw and 477nm.
Priced at $899 for stage 1 and $1299 for stage 2.
Cheers

The below thread should steer you clear of said chip ;)

I can't believe how easy the search button is to use

Are there any chips that are recommended or do I need to have the ecu reflashed as I did with my xr6 turbo falcon ?

You can have the ECU re flashed or another option is a piggy back ECU/computer which needs to be dyno tuned. The better pre tuned chips cost as much as a ECU tune or piggy back tune.
Chips seem to be all over the place. Just because it looks good and comes from Germany it must be good

Thanks guy's , will wait and have the ECU reflashed if thats the case.
Looking at ECUWest, they claim 21kw and 60nm gain at the tyres, also RPW do it as well but not sure how much gain.

Cheers

RPW is a MRT based tune. They (MRT EcuTek) can do them mail order apparently.

From another MRT tuners FB page.
Tuned with EcuTeK, these usually go from around 80-90kw at the wheels to around 120-130kw PLUS torque increases from around 300nm to a huge 520-550-odd!!!

Even though ChipIt themselves have disappeared there are plenty of their chips out there still and they are a good solid chip which, second hand, will save you a decent dollar. In fact, I happen to know of one that will be for sale quite soon. ;) There is also knowledge out there (and here on NTN) on these chips.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Pretty sure the chips were the same between the two just with different tunes loaded on them.
The Hitchhiker's guide to the the Triton universe and NTN.

Could be tempted to try it if the price is right.
