Problems after 60k service

Postby tritonmatt76 on Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:33 am

Hi,

Ive searched my individual issues but still want some feedback about all issues as a whole.

Just had a 60k service done by Mitsubishi, since then the following has occured. (apparently a boost ECU upgrade was done)

* Surging at all engine and road speeds
* Blowing excessive black smoke at higher speeds 80-110km/h in 5th gear, no load and with load.
* pre service economy was approx 750km per tank, since service 560kms for a full tank??
* on take off get a really noticable dead spot, then it rockets into motion. 1st gear take off only.
* noticable misses at all road speeds engine revs, loaded and unloaded
* Drivers airbag light constantly on.....

Plus Im not certain they actually performed the full service i.e. all fluids.......

Thay assure me that the service was done correctly, but have taken the vehicle for another day to rectify?

Anyone experienced similar after a 60k service? or this boost upgrade ECU adjust?

Almost sounds like the SQL didn't take and the ECU is having kittens... I'm sure someone with some actual knowledge will chime in shortly...

Do you have an MN or a ML?

Where are you located?

Are you running a chip or an EGR blank or any other modifications?

Did they itemise the valve clearance adjustment on their invoice?

Anything on the invoice about the manifolds being cleaned or replaced?

Factory standard 2011 MN.

Itemised list of work completed, includes tappet adjustment. Service salesman had no idea about manifold clean etc. said he'd check it out.

Prior to service I asked about carbon build up, fuel lines etc etc. seems like a standard multi dealer service centre. I just hope they fix this.

Im tempted to name and shame the dealership, I just called to discuss progress and timing for pick up (keep in mind I was the second vehicle in there this morning 0725hrs) and the guy says- sorry mate yours is next in line we have a lot on today....

I kindly reminded him that I was the second in line (of a total 2 vehicles and the only mitsubishi) and he says oh yeh.

This is a large well known mitsubishi dealer in the north west of sydney mind you.

Bloody hopeless, last time I use this dealership service centre.

Might have bumped the maf pins in the airfilter box after inspection

Pull out plug and tweak pins a bit.

What do you mean by tweak the pins a bit. I am just a dumb driver not a mechanic and that is confusing me. How do you do that please? :D

I will check them over, From the experience so far, I'd be surprised if they actually touched anything at all.

If its the one I'm thinking of, they currently have 2 2nd year apprentices only. No tradies. I will not go there.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. Heres a little update.

This morning, vehicle starts fine, idles smoothly, drives as normal for about 2kms. In heavy traffic so top speed reached was about 45km/h. pottering along in 1st gear in real heavy traffic under engine revs only its fine, slight acceleration and move into second gear- then it starts bunny hoping blowing smoke and carrying on.
I drop back to first and accelerate, theres response from the engine but seems theres no boost at all? flat and dead acceleration, then engine light comes on and stays on? WTF.....

I have since called the service centre and kindly explained in Australian (a few E'fs thrown in) that I will be delivering the vehicle to them some time this afternoon and they will drop everything and fix the bloody thing propoerly, reply was "yes Mr ####" no problem, we will look at it as soon as you arrive.

this is really giving me the craps.... The next pimply faced service guy who tells me- you must have a bad batch of fuel! or I'm imagining the black smoke will really cop it.

thats my winge for the day. Over....

I agree..

Ask them to chuck a can of mits injector cleaner in the tank.

You may have got a dodgy tank of fuel... it does happen.
