service manual says to remove a drain plug on the driver side of the block. An oil cooler iirccolins7014 wrote:Well after a few calls to different dealers over east asking how they flush the cooling system during service, the reply I got was all they do is drain the radiator and refill with new coolant. None of the dealers flush the block of old coolant. So I spent some time in my shed and worked out that by removing the thermostat housing and the thermostat on the lower front LHS of the block, close to another 4 ltrs of coolant flows straight out of the block. All in all I spent about 20 min going that extra mile to do the job as it should be done. I was able to remove the water hose which goes down to the EGR cooler and then on to the cabin heater and flushed that to with the garden hose. That coolant exits into the thermostat housing. So easy. Have got some pics if anyone needs them. Refilled system with no problems.
