I just bought air, oil and fuel filters thru work ( trade price Repco )
It cost $118 from memory, the fuel filter was the dearest at about $ 58.00 I think retail was recommended at about $89.......
Bit steep I think but you gotta have em !!! :o

I stopped using genuine 18 months ago. I buy from sydney filters - $21 for Oil, $23.10 for fuel. I've been using them for the last 80,000km and no probs so far, although I do change oil every 7500km, and fuel every 15000km.

They have changed the design of the genuine filter to be manufactured more cheaply. Still charge the same though.

I've used a variety of third party ones so far - no probs. 6yr old ml.

I've also cut a few of them open and the innards are virtually identical to the genuine.

The genuine oil filter is actually made with two small cartridges stacked end to end, so I conclude the manufacturer has a certain spec cartridge and they just package as many units to meet flow and capacity requirements.

I would have expected a third party unit to possibly just have a bigger cartridge.

Your just getting ripped buying genuine...who do you think makes them?

Ryco 313 from super cheap, 20% off today - $45, can be cheaper at Repco. Don't be conned with 'genuine'.

Yep- fuel filter is Sakura. I bought 10 oil filters a while back and still have 1 left. Hope they are still the same quality as I need to buy some more now that I'm back to doing 80,000km a year

So can anyone tell me what they have recently paid for a genuine filter?

And also, confirm the part number ? I was given 1230A114. Others I've seen mentioned since did not end in .....114

Thanks

Sadly I'd say you def got ripped off (unless you're somewhere pretty remote?). I wouldn't be getting them to service/other items from them in future!

I have the same car (2013 tho) and I just bought a genuine filter with crush washer from my local mitsubishi stealership for $55 total.

I just ordered some fleetguard filter kits (air oil fuel) from http://buyparts.com.au for $51.14 each for ML plus $15 delivery
They also have MN kits for. $48.34 plus delivery. Even cheaper if you are prepared to buy 10 or more kits.

When I had my Jackaroo 4JX1. The main filter started at $36 and went up to $98 within 6 years. Then there was the secondary oil filter as well. My unprofessional opinion was that as the warranty costs increased for these vehicles - 4JX1 made the Nissan zd30 look reliable - that the manufacturers increased the costs of consumables and parts to offset losses.
I went down the Sydney Filter path as well, buying Sakura in Bulk, they also do belts and a range of other products as well.
The only other thought that springs to mind is if you can get something like a Z9 adapter or to another size of equivalent specs but cheaper.
Such is Life.

Ah... The Golden Oil Filter...

Pickerings Auto Group in Townsville are now charging $65.88 (including gst) for the 1230A114 oil filter :x .

Not sure if it's a new record for the highest price in Australia but it must be up there. :o

Tough economic times in Townsville at the moment. Gotta gouge while you can...

Anyone able to just confirm if this is the correct kit for my 2011 MN GLXR? I'm about to have a mechanic mate teach me how to start servicing my own car but want to make sure I at least get the right gear :D

Also does anyone know if this gear would cause issues in the event of a warranty claim? I only have a few months left of warranty but you never know!
