So, i found out today that my 2011 glxr triton has not had its actual 60k service.. it had a service at 60k but not the full indepth service.. also found out that the capped price service doesnt apply as it now has 74k on the clock.. so my question is.. where is the best place to get the service done.. it needs everything so its up the scratch again.. im near tweed heads NSW but will travel for good service and decent price.. im over dealing with dealership that have nothing but excuses and blameing mods for problems :(

So did you have your 60k service done at 74K?, when was your 45k service done?

I purchased the truck through a used car dealership.. all the services are upto date, but when i actually looked into it.. and rang the places that done the last 2 services.. 60k and 70k service.. all they had done was oil changes.. so now i want to get the 60k service done so everything is checked and upto scratch..

Just a quick update for future browsers....

Mitsubishi has left Eagers Newstead & can now be found at Brisbane City Automotive just up the road in Bowen Hills. Blair is the only service manager there, unsure what happened to Lee.

FWIW... I have been quoted $590 for 60k service from Mits. Nundah (capped price servicing). There has been a recall for an over-heating/leaking issue that needs to be checked? I will also be asking for warranty on my front l/h shock as it's leaking... fingers crossed :? . I have a 2011 MN Dual Cab with 55000km

Lee left some time ago to another place. I can't tell you where but someone will let you know soon for sure.

He's at Eagers Kia at Kedron. Can still service the tritons and do MUT111 updates. Just can't do warranty work.

Capped pricing

Postby Silvertruck on Mon Nov 23, 2015 8:22 pm

Is $530 for 60,000km service good?

Also side question last time had my 45km service I checked the oil when got home and it was still black? Shouldn't it be clear if it's new oil?

The 60000km service for that year model does not do valve clearances, so what you are getitng is oil and filter, Brake fluid and Fuel filter replacement, then all the usual checks/top ups SQL etc.
$530 is a reasonable price for a Mitsu dealer, certainly cheaper out there, but not worth losing your roadside assistance and genuine dealer history.

I asked my father about the Tappet adjustment at the 60,000KM service, he about spat his beer out. Having been a mechanic for 30 years he said the last time he adjusted tappets was on a motorbike back in the 80s. So are the tappets just a way of forcing that extra $300 out of buyers to keep the dealer in the coin or what?

In his words, engines are so advanced these day's that an oil and filter change will keep it running forever outside of any freak problems.

Is the tappet adjustment just an Australian thing? or it's done worldwide?

Taking a risk, if they tighten up and can cause expensive damage. However some members claim not to do them as often or not at all with no problems. Some stupid engine dis assembly and A few expensive gaskets are included in the price.

Auto adjust can play up with all the soot due to the pollution gear. So manual is more reliable, more power but have to be checked.

Many members are concerned about paying the money and only another audio check done. However if anything goes wrong the dealer or mechanic is hit with the bill if they want to take the risk.

This is not advice to do what I did, but I traded my ML after 275 000 klms and it never had a tappet adjustment and it was still as powerful as when I bought it, didn't blow excessive smoke or run roughly.
I will be getting scheduled servicing on the new Triton only to keep the warranty as I'm not sure the 2.4 with dpf will be as trouble free as the 3.2.

Sorry to whoever bought the old girl.

Just had my 60K service done at Zupps Mt Gravatt in Brisbane, capped price $530.00 (actually only charged me $528.00 ) ,did the recall on the indicator stalk that I didn't know about. I had asked about the wear on the leather steering wheel, coating coming off the inner door grab and rust on the step supports. When I picked the car up they advised me they had ordered all the replacement parts and had organised a courtesy car for me when they arrive as sometimes they have trouble with the step replacements and can take a couple of days, could not be happier with the service , highly recommend them.

Just booking my 2014 triton in for a 75,000km service, at 60,000kms, I was advised that they don't do the tappet adjustment until 75,000km's now???

As the capped price only goes to 60,000kms I asked if the 75,000 was still at the same price $530, I was advise that the price for the 75,000 is not available under he capped price and is now $895. Ripped. I will get it done as I don't know anyone in Central Coast who would do it, but it will be my last dollar spent at Mitsubishi.

Cheers

I just spoke to my mechanic got quoted $640 for 60k service but wanted to charge $1300 with valve clearances now im in two minds because they are meant to be done every 30k but im wondering if I should wait for 90k to get them done in the big service.
