15,000 Service

Discussion on servicing, engine oils, gearbox oils, diff oils etc

If they had said $330, I would have told them to shove it.

1 Year membership to the RACV is not that expensive. That's all we get for the privilege of giving our hard earned to them each year.

Got mine done today, supplied own oil and specified that they leave the K&N air filter alone. Paid $305.65 but $50 of that was the wheel alignment I asked them to do so it would have been just under $256 which is pretty good for Sydney prices. Charged me $55.46 for the oil filter which I thought was a bit steep but too late to argue when you're dropping the car off. Might supply my own next time -$35 from Thailand anyone?

Got charged 95 cents for wiper fluid which is a bit suss since I deliberately topped it up to the brim last night but what the hell, 95 cents is the least of my problems.

Also finally got around to the turbo vacuum hose warranty fix - posted details in hotline fix thread.

Do I think I made have paid more if I didn't have a NewTriton sticker plastered across my windscreen? Err, yeah actually I do, thanks for that Joe (and BG for softening that particular dealer up...).

I'm on fixed price servicing for 4 years with mine.
$250 for the 15,000 and then $590 for the rest of them up to and including the 60,000km service, then after that I guess the sky's the limit.

The power of community :D

Good price CD!! (you kinda expect the few bux of gouging from all the dealers anyway but looks like they limited themselves) 8-)

hmm, interesting. Got telephoned this evening by a MMAL call centre. They were asking if it would be okay to send me a survey about my recent service experience. Progress? Maybe.

Got mine serviced today under fixed price and they tried to charge me $290.
I said what happened to fixed price servicing? Oh yeah that's right sorry $250.
This is after I confirmed it was under the fixed price umbrella.

too late now that they're behaving themselves for the most part. would have loved to give a bunch of feedback about the other mob on the other side of the bridge. oh well, no doub't they'll sting me more when the 30k arrives. mind you they can do all the surveys they want if a few more guys start bending chassis rails it won't matter at all...

What was the extra 60 bucks?

My dealer offers an online booking service which soon reverts to an email exchange. I made sure I got him to estimate the price in writing via email and then started trimming bits off that by saying I'd bring my own oil etc.

I also spent an hour the night before the service topping up fluids, checking tyres, cleaning air filter, changing wiper blades, checking every globe etc just so I could be deadset certain what needed doing and what didn't. I may have been a little obvious about it but I figured that and the NewTriton sticker should keep them to the straight and narrow. I did still have to ask them to add the diesel conditioner stuff and they didn't seem to know what that would cost which I thought more than a little odd given that it seems to be de rigueur these days.

I took my car in for it's 15000km service yesterday. Capped price $250. I got a loan car which I drove the 2km to my house and it sat there all day as it didnt have enough fuel in it to get me to work and stuffed if I am going to put fuel in it for them  . Anyway, picked the Triton up yesterday afternoon and they said "$280 thanks" Hang on a sec.. Capped price service? "Oh yeah $30 for the loan car". Hmm well if I had known they were going to charge me for the loaner I would have caught a taxi cos it would have cost less than $30. Never been charged for a loan car before but apparently thats cos all the other times have been for warranty work. But it would still have been nice for them to tell me they were charging me.
Anyway got the car home and had a look at what had been done. Oil is still black and very overfull.. they reckon they put 7.4L in. There is a new oil filter though and the Fumoto has oil in it so they have done something.. I checked the log book and that hasnt been stamped  And I would have thought washing the car would hve been a nice courtesy although reading this thread I am kinda glad they didnt wash it. Rant over

Hey fellas, I'm in Perth looking to get my 15,000 km service. Went to drop my MN GLX off at the Mitsu service centre this morning then just as I'm handing him the keys the guy says service will cost $550!!!! I promptly snatched my keys back and walked out.

Can anyone from WA give me a price they paid and/or recommend somewhere in Perth with more realistic pricing?

Rockingham Mitsubishi $250 capped price service, and all warranty issues addressed.

I'm very happy with the work, she pulls like a 17 year old after the relearn ;-)

Hi guys,
Due for my 15k service pretty soon and looking for a reputable dealer service in Melbourne s/e. Dandenong is closest (Prestom motors) or Berwick. Any dealings with these guys?
I want a dealer to do this service so they can address the manifold issue etc. otherwise I'll use local vacc registered mechanic.

Had mine done at Clarence Coast Motors in Grafton last week. $250 Capped price. No dramas at all. Run me down to work and then delivered the Ute back to me at work.
They even rotated tyres (Bloody Grafton roundabouts) and did a free wheel alignment. Didn't wash it.
An ECU update and it now goes like a cut cat.

Good service form Trevor and Belinda at CCM.
Regards, Trevor.

15000 done today. Said they updated the ecu. Seems to run better. Anyone aware of this apparent re-flash available since April 2013? $295.00.

Got my 15k service done yesterday and spent about half an hour degreasing under the car when I got it home. Noticed a couple of drips on the ground when I parked it in the garage. It must have been the mess from removing the filter and not cleaning up after.

Had to remove the plastic engine cover and degrease the top too as they'd spilt oil all over the top

I understand that a mess can happen but I would have thought they'd clean it up and do a little degrease of the oil that spilt before returning the vehicle.

The fumoto valve was removed to drain the oil as well, which I suspected would happen.

Tell you what would be handy though is a pair of the x-ray glasses the dealer has to check the diffs, gearbox and transfer case oil levels ;)

have you noticed if the fuel consumption has changed?
I have read some people complaining that since a dealer visit the consumption is much worse.
