Hello all. I've been a lurking member since just before I bought my 2010 MN in about April this year with 68000 km on it.

Just been quoted $640 for a 90k service at Ingrey's Narrogin ($40 oil filter!). Lady behind the desk seemed pretty knowledgeable about what is required, although a manifold clean isn't included which I'm a little bothered by. Especially as I'm getting a little light surging accelerating to highway speeds. She also recommends an injector clean for $138 which I'm not sure about.

manifold clean is a warranty issue not a service issue.

if it is surging then you need to tell them so it can be assessed.

pretty sure the 90k should include a tappet adjustment though (every 30k) so be aware of that. i don't think it will be included in the service quote with a $640 price

Snowie is 100% correct in the tappet adjustment and definately wouldn't be included in the quote.

I'm certain that the 90k is all oils as well :? so the cost will blow out to over a grand very easily

$40 for oil filter is good, I paid $52 and that was trade price :o

Read your service schedule and it will tell you exactly what the service requires ;)

Thanks for your replies snowman and har05l. Now that you mention it tappets were not mentioned, but a valve adjustment was quoted. I shall have to call back and see how much they want to try and rip me for tappets.

And are you chaps really trying to tell me that they are quoting me a price that doesn't include fluids? They really do want to bend us over to keep this 5 year warranty don't they.

I think what they're saying is the quote sounds lowish so you need to make sure they are doing the whole job, that's all.

Just got quoted from Mitsubishi $1300. Anyone in the illawarra had the 90k serviced for a better price. seems a bit excessive to me.

Seems about right from what I've been told and just got mine done for. 90k is a major major service ;-)

Personally, I'd go mitsy being that this is such a big service, tappets should be done also and manifold will be off I believe so shouldn't be much more to get it cleaned ;)

Be a good time to get any last warranty bits organised too

//edit to add, will be heaps of variation in price in this thread, some people supply own parts, some supply some parts, some dealers charge more, some get tappets done, some don't, capped price servicing, other works (mine ended up being around $1500 or so with extra repairs done, I always seem to break/wreck something coming up to service time  ) so price is very suggestive.

I believe, if I remember correctly, the RRP for this service is actually higher than what pretty much everyone here has paid.

Thanks again fridgie. 90% sure ill get it done at mitsy, just making sure i don't pay more than i have to. Im sure if i get it done there everything that needs to get done will. Shouldn't manifold clean be done under warranty as im having surges around 2300rpm under light throttle. Therefore if that is getting done under warranty i shouldnt have to pay for gaskets and other parts associated. thanks

$850 is a great price including car hire. They want $35 on top of the $1300 for car hire. Don't understand how they can be so different. Did they adjust valves

Hi Guys

I'm due for my 90k service & by the sounds of it it's a costly one. Any guys around Newcastle
able to offer some advice on where or where not to go to?

My cars surging on the highway when doing about 110kph, mainly noticible on Cruise Control & ive
also got an Airbag light which is stuck on. Do I have to go to a Mitsu Dealer to have these looked?

I've only used dealers in Sydney but Daryn used to go to Klosters and rated them from memory.

Airbag light will be a loose connection somewhere and will be a dealer warranty job

The surging could be fuel filter, scv, or needs a software update. Could also be carbon build up. More than likely needs a dealer as its probably also a warranty job.

90km is a tappet adjustment so is a pricey service.

Klosters were fine by me, but never had to take a problem to them to sort out luckily except for a broken CV.

Gibbo thats not to bad mate, was that with valves done?

Hi guys, I called round today & was told
that for my 90k service,
$1500 (about) Cardiff Mitsubishi (no timing belt, do it at 100k)
$1770 Newcastle (included timing belt)

Now do I need to have services don't at a dealer or can any qualified mechanic
do it & stamp the book. What can Mitsubishi mechanics do
(Other than Warranty issues) that a non Mitsu Mech can do?

Cheers guys
DD

You need to use a dealer once a year to maintain the roadside assist from memory.

Beyond that it's more if there are any recalls or hotfixes you haven't been told about or reflashes/updates for the ECU. They can also do an SQL with their MUT3 machine that a non dealer won't have access to.

I think you'll find the cap service doesn't extend as far as the 90k

I was quoted similar to gibbo in Penrith but have decided to only get the tappets done at mitsi which is about $450 and I'll out source the rest of the service.
