According to the docs, yes - having said that, I seem to get an extraordinary deal with the lease mob... Mate through a different lease company but same service centre is feeling a little hard done by as he pays a couple of green ones extra every time...

$517, dont think tappets would be done for that, might pay to check, the paperwork might say it but i bet they werent done.

Valves were checked and manifold changed as the crate motor was still wearing the unrevised inlet - the manifold was a non-chargeable item inline with warranty/upgrade protocol...

Your either a special customer or just plain special :P

either way that is a damn good price. :D

The 90K service is a major one and I wouldn't expect much change from $800 done privately.... (all fluids plus tappets = exxy; especially those with the auto)
I expect a dealer service would be round the $1k mark usually?

I seem to get a lot for a little with the lease mob, BG, tyres (BFG A/T 265/70R17) were $379/corner retail, I paid $254/corner - as an example...

Hi Guys,
Just a quick Q. My Triton 08 ML GLX-R 3.2LTR Auto is approaching its 90k service. I have got a few quotes ranging from $500 at a local mechanic to $1200+ at Mist. dealer ! Has anybody dealt with this mob http://www.thedieselexperts.com/ (Berima Diesl down at Berima)? They could not give me a firm quote but said they charge $100 an hour for labour + materials.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
P.S Im situated around the Sutherland area.

90K Service Beware

Postby azzamntriton on Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:37 pm

Can I ask a question? I purchased my car from chaddy and I was told fixed price services at 500 odd bucks. I'm now a bit concerned about these huge prices. Is the Mitsubishi fixed price services fixed priced?

Well mine went in for its 90k today, they tried to tell me that it was getting an ECU update, like crap is it I told them.

Same story as before, if you update my ECU without my prior approval you will receive an invoice from me for 6 hours at $120 per hour plus MRT costs for updating my ECU. Don't touch it, I dare ya.

Also I told them to look that my bash plates are intact as last time they lost my stainless shell diff plate.

Was given an ASX to drive, pretty gutless compared to the Triton, even though it is half the size it should still go, oh well, better than bussing it.

Come on Daryn, The guys like it when they get an ASX from me, None of them like the Petrol GL triton i give them.

The way the asx drives is more because of the CVT transmission, Drop it over to tiptronic and it will change your opinion.

Got my Tri back at 5pm on the dot, so much for the 5 hour service after dropping it off at 8:30am. I could not wait to hand the keys back of the asx, not impressed, diesel torque any day.

Cost was $1160, it was a bit of a worry as I had some concerns but chose to be quiet to see whether they did anything.

They were transmission with the TC slipping like crazy and some excess smoke from the rear.

I was blown away when I hoped in it and the changes were the best I have had in probably two years, very, very happy. Secondly, put my foot my down and zero smoke, doubly please.

If this stays consistent the dollars were well worth it.

Lee, can the tranny oil change make that much difference and I presume the low fuel burn off cured the smoke issue.

Service was great, counter guys were hopeless but they did one thing correct, they made sure the ECU was not touched. Oh and both bash plates are in tact. :D

A little off topic but I had Lees asx today and have to agree its gutless but he's right about the tiptronic. Makes it a bit more interesting. Still could never go back to a little petrol car. nothing beats the diesel torque.

90K Service Beware

Postby Naff on Thu Dec 22, 2011 8:47 pm

I had the tradie this week :) was quiet compared to the diesels, noisy in everything else though. Asx is a buzz box.. Wouldn't mind trying the diesel version of it though.

The ASX diesel is pretty good, being a stick makes it a fair bit better to drive.

Naff, Most of the rest of the guys refuse the Tradies triton now, Homer really doesnt like it.

Daryn, Sometimes the Trans oil change can make a massive difference, The state of some of the auto oil that comes out of them can be pretty bad, For those of us that use it to 4wd the oil can degrade a little quicker. The one downfall most of the time with it though is the auto holds over 8 litres, when you drain it from the plug you only remove about half of it, So you mix new and old together, Personally on my car i Flush the Auto completely to remove as much oil as possible, this can make a massive difference to the longevity as well.
What else do they do other than the service? unless your fuel filter was getting a bit blocked i cant see why she stopped blowing smoke.

Cheers Lee
