Im down in Newcastle, so I can stir Lee from a distance :D

Maybe you will be bussing next...

  I guess we will just have to wait and see in 6 months time or so. Even if i was bussing it id still much rather take the car to Lee then some of the other crap dealers around here.

Frankly i was expecting the tradies triton and was quite pleased with the asx instead. It made the 40 min drive to work nice and easy. I wasnt aware there was a diesel asx, though id be keen to drive one to see what its like.

I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Just had the 90K service done - $418 (quoted $1400 by the stealer!). Done in Burringbar, NSW.

Full log book service - so I think so. I trust the bloke - he's my brother in law!

Anyone know offhand if the tappet adjustment is listed in the log book service? If not I will try and remember to check it tonight...

Well no wonder you got it for that price or is that price for anyone, it would help for others to know if they see your price when comparing.

Disclosure helps.

Parts alone to do the tappets using genuine seals is $120, Fuel filter if genuine $70, oil filter $45, plus all the oils, Maybe he was doing it for the cost of parts and oils only??

Parts only - $286
Plus Labour - $418 total (could have had the labour free but it is his business, and it is a lease).

The Valve clearances are DEFINATELY listed in the log book as part of the service. It takes approx 1.5-2 hours to complete on their own, Longer for others who have not done many of them.

if his labour charges $132 for approx 4.5-5 hours work then he mustnt be doing very well, $20 an hour??? I would think being Family he has looked after you, but would be suspect if he did the valve clearances for that.

90,000 service quotes: 2010 4x4 manual cab chassis,

Second $'s is for Valve clearance check only
Knox $1497 $700!!!

Penfold $1400 $500

Chadstone $1390 $470

Eastside $1250 $375

Lilydale $1000 $200

Congrats to Knox, for being the most expensive. Stupid mofo's.

Interestingly one dealer said they don't do the valve clearances if they were done at 60,000. How the hell can there be a price difference of $497 for the same service? :o

Its anoying because 4 of my mates have Nissan Navara D22's, not only are they dirt cheap to buy new but their servicing costs $220-$280 for minors and $780 for major. Although they need to be done every 10k. Thats capped prices up to 120k.

Yeah you are probably right. I am saying the retail was $418, based on the job card I saw (with the discounted price also listed). There is every possibility the normal price is slightly higher but they do specialise in 4WDs and major farming machinery.

I have asked him if he wants his business listed here, together with a guess-timation of 90K service price...either way way cheaper than the $1400 the stealer wanted!

If Lilydale Mitsi can do it for a $1000 and make money then i would shop around. I will get the local mechanic (ex Mitsi mech) to do the service using gen parts and the clearances at Lilydale.

Clarification - I checked the service book and the $418 did not include valve clearances.

Hey guys - in Brisbane and just bought an ex lease ML 09 - paid top dollar but I knew it was a well modified and maintained vehicle.

Its just shy of its 90k service, so I thought I would call around to check how big the sting is.

Here we go..........

Motorama Moorooka - $1473

Zupps Mt Gravatt - $1636

Bartons @ Manly - $1490

Blue Ribbon @Yamanto - $912 for a timing belt change and full service, and an extra $350 for valve clearance (I had to push her to include the valve clearance)(and I didn't even know it had a timing belt......)

Eagers Newstead - $1676 - oh, and the reason its so expensive???? thats because it needs new spark plugs apparently!!!!

Nundah Mitsubishi - $1416

Toowoong Mitsubishi - $1394.25 and then gave me a 10% discount because I said thats where it used to get serviced prior to me purchasing it.

1. I am kicking myself for not getting the previous owner to get the 90k service done under lease prices.

2. WTF!!!!!!!

3. Anyone want to lend me some moolah??????????????

The service manager at Eagers Newstead is a member of this forum. I suggest you contact them again, speak to Lee, mention your found out about him here and see what happens.

thanks froggymicb - Lee's gone home for day but will try tomorrow.

I am hoping to get my manifold checked at the same time - is it worth pursuing if the only symptom so far is high fuel economy? its done 90,000 and the only alarm bell in service history is at 60k - service note that blowing lots of black smoke from exhaust - remedied with an ECU update (fuel system) and test. :?
