Engine Light

Postby darcy on Mon Oct 17, 2011 6:34 am

Hi All,

Fist post on here.. :)

First of all, i have a 07 GLXR.

I have a small issue. My engine light has recently come on after a drive to the Gold Coast (and back) from brisbane over the weekend. It has happened before, but went away after a day or so. However, its now been on for a few days and its got me a little worried. The only thing i have done so far is the waste gate amusement mod.. That was done back in August 2010.

There hasn't been any noticeable power difference/sluggishness and it hasn't gone into limp mode. Should i take it into the stealer and get it checked out or does someone locally (Bayside BNE) have a diagnostic tool that can check/clear the error.

Cheers,
David

I have an 07 Diesel auto and my engine light can on last month, no noticeable problems with performance either. Took it to the stealership for a check and it was the blocked vacuum and a replacement manifold was ordered. All under warranty. I'd take it to get checked out.

Its worth getting the code read. Whether you take it to a dealer or not is up to you. If you havent had the manifolds changed yet its likely that they are blocked with carbon build up, whether or not thats causing your problem.

On Friday last week, I had the same problem and lost power to about 1000rpm and the engine light appeared. Got the car booked in on Monday. They diagonse the problem as a new suction control value. Tuesday they replaced the part. Wednesday the car on the way to work drove fine. On the way home engine light appear again and lost power to about 1000 rpm again, drove the car straight to the dealership to find that the suction contol value was a faulty one.. or thats what the error message apparently says... did anyone else go through the same problem... I just want Mitsubishi to replace the manifold but they keep saying that's not what the error message says..

The suction control valve is a common problem and they do tend to stick open. A faulty one is not out of the question though i think thats a bit of a coincidence. Sounds a bit strange to me :? How many kms does it have on it?
