Thanks for all the well wishes guys.

Ok finally for around to performing Emmens liposuction today. He lost around 180mm off the bottom of the tub.

An angle grinder with 1mm cutting blade sliced through like butter. Tomorrow's job is to clean up all the edges, nutsert on two braces, modify the RB6 rear bar to suit and relocate the number plate to the tailgate HSV style.

:D

Holy hell! I was only under the back of mine last week and realised it just looked like a heap of extra (thin) metal down there... This should look good!
Cheers, Ben.

Yeah I did think about doing a 'how too' yet with Travs photos he posted it's pretty straight forward.

Plus I'm not a automotive body expert and would hate for someone to follow and they run into issues with the tub cracking etc.

The way I see it tubs are relatively cheap if it all turns pear shaped.

Funny that.
I had the baby monitor sitting on the RHS slider while I was under the car with the grinder. The little one was in the lounge in her bassinet.

My neighbour popped over to see what the go was with attacking the car with power tools. I turned off the grinder and all you could hear was the baby gurgling coming through the monitor.

Old mate was horrified. Thought I had stashed the baby under the wheel arch !!!

No it will be lifted up about 170mm. The only issue I see is where the side fenders meet back at the chassis. By lifting the bar it may put them in the sweep path of the rear shackles at full flex.

I won't know until it have it fitted back up. Then I'll flex it up and have a look. I'm toying with the idea of getting some fender rails added.

Something like this...

Yet not as ugly.

Right...

So the biggest headache is what to do with the reflectors. I toyed with the idea of more LED reverse lights though would probably lose me left nut if the missus saw any more lights on Emmen.

I followed Trav's idea and just cut them through. It was then just a matter of integrating them. I used the vernier to scribe the line based on the outer cornice...

Then mask, sand, prep and paint...

I ran a 5mm paint line on the bottom edge the whole way around. I'm going to add pinch weld anyways so it will just give it a little more base coat.

Nah Paul that's the only problem.
Going to use the 'run flat' system from a Hummer H1 and do away with the spare all together...

Only taking the piss.
Yes the spare will go back into the factory location. It's so much easier climbing under the tub without it there though.
