Somewhat of a big update... I finally got my snorkel on which is the latest big mod for me. The tray is still in progress however it's nearing completion, just making minor changes and deciding a few last minute modifications on the tray.

The Snorkel was done by Nathan at Fabulous Fabrications in Rocklea, he did an excellent job. Fabbed, powder coated and fitted for (what i think is) an excellent price.



This pic is a little outdated, as the tray sits in the shed at the moment, It's got the headboard and mudguards on. Just need to get the checker plated steel to chuck on the rear, bed and headboard, fit the lights and add some mud flaps and drop down sides and it will be complete.





Finally, my snorkel was fitted. Very happy with the outcome, took it to the local to do a few river crossings and play around. Loving the sound it makes

Can't forget the New Triton sticker either.

Update on the tray.
My brother has been doing some more work on the tray and there isn't much longer to go. Just the last of the sheet stuff and wiring of the lights and it should be all done. I'm currently torn on what I would like to do when it comes to canopy's and tie down points. I've gotten a lot of idea's from the forum and other sources but can't decide on what I want.

At this point I would like tie down points (long tube bar) from the rear to the back of the mudguard underneath the tray. This will then limit what i can tie down in line or in front of the mudguards. I was thinking eyelet style tie down points in that area.

I also would like drop down sides for when I need to chuck fiddly things on the back. Not entirely sure where I can get some, I would probably need some custom ones for the size of the tray.
Lastly, I'm unsure of what I want and how I want a toolbox and storage box bolted on so I can house my Second battery and gear etc...

I have also had an idea to have a rear headboard set up so I can have a canvas canopy type setup with Tire carrier on the back. I'm a fan of the idea however not sure how I would have it set up. Might look into putting a canopy box on and polt/clip it down.

how wide Is the tray ? your guards are poking way out

The tray is 1450 x 1650 (yes that is L x W). I'm aware they are poking out, drop down sides will still work, more so for holding things in the tray. If I don't need them ill take them off.

sorry I misread that, 1650 wide, but still you must be running some wild offset rims?

Nah not really, only 0 offset with 265's. when the tray is on the wheels are inside the guard by about 5mm or so. I was going to cut the guards down to make them flush or have the wheels stick out 5mm but didn't bother.

Cheers Minza, I'm very keen to get her on.
At one stage it was similar weight to the tub, however as more goes on it gets heavier and heavier. The tub can be lifted and moved around with myself and my dad, so can the tray. However the tub to lift on and off is a pain in the ass (i've done it 3 times now). I'd say once all the sheet goes on and it gets painted and finished it will be considerably heavier then the tub.

Haha yes another plus side to the steel tray. I probably should have used aluminum sheet for the bed, rear and headboard but decided on steel.

Absolutely love it mate.

Probably my favorite mod so far. Sounds sweet and is completely sealed. I highly recommend getting it done by Fabulous Fab. He's a top bloke and the quality is second to none.

For basically the same cost as the ARB rubber snorkels too. He can also fab stainless air boxes for a few hundred extra, which I'm looking into myself.

After almost a year, the tray is almost ready to go on. Currently has 1 coat of paint on it. Just need to do another coat or two and paint the Tie down points Fluro Green.

After that, ill be looking at upgrading to 285/75/16 or 305/70/16 and maybe some jungle flares on the front.

This is how the tray is looking. I've got plans for bolt on toolboxes and some drop down sides. But for now this will be what's going on.

I've got a space case i'll be bolting on with my battery and other gear in there. I'll either be looking at getting an ally canopy, deck box or keep the space case.

We're finally on. Although I can't drive it until tomorrow afternoon because i forgot to buy mudflaps today. Got led load resistors and even reused my camera ... Pretty stoked.

Next will be sides and toolbox.

Went up to Double Island for the weekend, first time using the new tray to transport gear. Went really well with the tiedown point placements.

It does look pretty close, but had a look when it flexed and it had plenty of room.

Update on the tray.
First pick is the setup I'm currently going for (cylinder is my huge ass swag).

The tray sides were off a single cab so hung over the end a fair bit, but have now been shortened and the ends fixed up ready to be put on. Just need a lick of paint.

The day has finally come were I've finished my tray (for now) I have a few ideas for the future but for now it's done. Stoked on the outcome and spent a fraction of the cost of a store bought one. The paint jobs a little rough on the sides but will give them some love later on.
