Ok, that answers my question. Worried about all the money one can spend on mods... :(

I have the standard steps and was wondering if rock sliders or similar could slide down my list of "must haves". Same as I have the standard nudge bar (cheers Amanda), can the front bar go down my priority list... TO MUCH STUFF, NOT ENOUGH MONEY!!!

Thanks ReelDreamer,

Yes Bob, these are heaps heaps better, they can slide and protect you heaps but are not sliders, Jop had some and jacked his vehicle up but the slightly bent, I am not sure if that bend rectified itself. But that is $900 vs $400. These things of course shit all over the std steps.

Through one thing and another I have now updated from my Single Din Kenwood 7" screen unit to a new Double Din unit.

This was all installed this afternoon, you would not believe it but my mates pulled the old unit out and had the new one in in under 2 1/2 hours, legends, I could not believe it.

So what I now have is a Opal In-car Multimedia unit with a 6.2" display, I was close to getting an Eclipse 7" fully touch screen unit but this was about a $1000 less in price.

This is probably pretty similar to many of the digi_option units out there and I am sure cheaper again, never less this is what I have chosen.

It comes standard with a 4gb internal memory, sd-card, 2 x usb ports and DVD player, it has been tested with hard drives up to 320gb in size, so I guess I will test that out and load it up with a heap of movies as well.

The whole unit runs off Windows CE 6.0 and is supported with map updates etc. The maps are Navteq I think.

One thing that I liked about this unit is it seemed to be as powerful as I could find with processor and memory as I wanted everything to be smooth and quick. So it supposedly runs a 600mhz cpu and a 300mhz Digital Sound Processing chip, 128mb ram and the 4gb of internal memory, USB 2.0 and 3d hardware capabilities and of course a heap more of the standard who har which comes along with these units.

I am currently sussing out the off road mapping side of things, I know that by the middle of the year which is now only 5 months away I will be able to obtain the next update with 4wd mapping included, supposedly.

Anyway here are a couple of interim pics.

Seeing as I have only just got it, I have not had much time to see how it all compares, but I do think the sound might actually be better than the Kenwood unit which is surprising.

Nah I'm sure he/she went with the polaris or the vms. Never heard of opal until the big red car scored one.

As a record for those interested I have the following measurements for my racks on my lid.

All gear is Rola.

Length of tracks are 1200mm each
The tracks are placed 925mm apart measured at centre of track
The bars are 785mm in length measure at the bar itself not including the mounting arm.

Of course if building and installing yourself I would mount the tracks first and cut the bars to suit last.

I am not sure how this update will go down with you lot as you are all an extremely hard bunch and call for blood at the slightest moment, but here goes:

I no longer have the Red Beast as it has been traded in on a brand new MY12 Platinum Edition Pajero with Auto. All sorts of reasons why with none of them relating to how the Triton performed. My Triton had never had an issue which resulted in warranty work other than the obligatory manifold change for carbon, that is it. It was and still is a faultless vehicle which I would jump in and drive anywhere with full confidence.

It is currently for sale at Heritage Mitsubishi Maitland, I have no idea for how much as I was not game to have a look as it does hurt still not having it. From what I understand they have driven the Triton well enough now to tell every mechanic to not do any firmware updates, they can't believe it goes as good as it does and especially a Triton with zero lag.

I think my build thread here was pretty much up to date with the only thing I had not put up was that I had front and rear cameras operating through the Opal Head Unit computer. Either camera could be activated on the go with no restrictions limiting when.

I have a heap of accessories which were removed that will soon be up in the Trade section too.

So never less I have stayed with the 3 Diamonds, still have the best engine in the 3.2 and Super Select mkII to match it.

Sad to hear the red beast had to go mate. Was a great vehicle and will definitely be a fantastic buy for whoever gets hold of it. ;)

So when's the trip to Ultimate for the full work on the paj?
