Can confirm that powder coating still scuffs :? . Stupidly used them to scrape mud off my shoes and once the truck was washed......damn

I find just a little bit of oil helps with that...add butter if you like them crispy....

Hey Daryn,

That is a sweeeeet ride. I really like the appearance of the ride height and tire size, great choice. By the way, how is the Ultimate Suspension system holding up for you? How well does it handle the bad corrugated roads? Any sag in height? I am saving up for the system so I am very curious.

Hey cambo,

Thanks for the comments. Sag is still at zero either end after about 30000k's, adjust your tyre pressures to suit the terrain and the suspension does the rest. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I am getting great ideas from nice build up's such as your truck and others. Sounds like the highest quality suspension system.

Nice looking Triton. I have a question about your racks on your hard top. How much weight can you put on them. Do you think that it would hold 40 to 50 kgs plus. And would you be able to open the lid with weight on.
I have not get a Triton yet, but just planning how i would set it up if i did get one.

Cheers Mickey

Hi Mickey,

Please can you do me tyres really cheap...........only jokes. :D

Hmmmmm, have no idea how much the hard top can take, the rola bars can take that weight, I also have the rola luggage tray and have had it loaded with clothes bags and the lighter bulky stuff etc, still a fair bit of weight overall but I am sure it is not 40 kgs. The slide mounts help spread the weight I hope. Maybe close to 30kg's including steel rola rack.

As far as opening is concerned, yes it can be heavy and you may need a piece of wood to hold it up as the gas struts are really only good when I have the mtb on.

Not sure if you seen but I have 2 lids, one with racks and one without, a cheaper way of playing and breaking if it ever did not work.

One fella has all of his recovery gear on his lid which is heavy stuff ML-GLXR I think.

Hope that helps, oh, I got my spare lid for $100 off ebay, cheap insurance.

Just as well you had Australian Ultimate Suspension Pty. Ltd on board to keep the vehicle stable and safe on the private road I wouldn't like to be doing it stock.

I thought I would update my buildup with the latest addition. I have removed the ChipIt and am now running and EcuTek ECU by MRT Performance.

I have attached my 2 dyno charts.

1. EcuTek vs Std

std vs ecutek sml.jpg

nb. std results are based on Chris's triton done back in Feb 2009

std from memory is:

115kw
350nm (nb these figures are based upon measuring at the flywheel by MMAL)

Dyno shows:

100kw
323nm (approx) nb MRT use a 4 wheel hub dyno

%difference is

+15% for kw
+8.3% for nm
(these percentages will be used to at the end to get an approximate corrected figure for kw and nm)

so this gives a base guide on difference with MRT Dyno and stated/claimed MMAL figures.

Analysing this graph we have with EcuTek tune loaded and extensive dyne tuning, and I mean extensive:

139kw
461nm

%increase over standard is

+39% for kw
+42.7% for nm

Possible projected figures corrected based upon MMAL's % difference:

159.85kw (close enough to say 160kw)
499nm
nb. these are not dyno figures

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. EcuTek vs ChipIt

ecutek vs chipit sml.jpg

Now in comparison to ChipIt (DP210 running tune 4), the Dyno ChipIt figures are:

119kw
392nm

%increase over std is

+19% for kw
+12% for nm

Possible projected figures corrected based upon MMAL's % difference:

136kw
424.5nm

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So far in summary we have:

(nb. these figures are using the corrected % to create a possible fair comparison with std MMAL claimed figures)

Std - 115kw
ChipIt - 136kw
EcuTek - 160kw

Std - 350nm
ChipIt - 424nm
EcuTek - 499nm

So possible corrected gains in percentage are:

+39% for power
+42.7% for torque

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.5L Charts:

That has been taken into consideration with these, I have determined a % to guestimate them based upon that we have an actual benchmark std triton on the exact same dyno, I hope that I have explained that above, I will check.

Interesting stuff Darren. What ChipIT tune did you dyno? Trying to work out if it's worthwhile moving from the ChipIT to the MRT myself. I seem to be able to run the big tunes on my Tri but have settled on Folder 2 Tune 4.

Is there a noticeable difference in driveability with the MRT tune?

I just added that detail Steane - DP210 running Tune 4.

Yes, a pretty big difference.
