With olied filters they are affected by over oiling!. Sometimes it comes down to the wrong oil type to match the filter material, thay also tend to be very high maint. I have no idea which brand or type are best but I have never had issues with K&N but I dont know if they fit the ML air box. I will be doing my research as soon as my Ute is delivered.

Hi Bill,

I have the Unifilter kit including oil, I squeezed the filter and you could not get anything out of it except a nice film on your finger tips, too me perfect and identical to the two pre-oiled which I received upon purchase.

I have 5 spare filters being constantly rotated in my motorbike so I am forever cleaning and oiling.

I will be redoing my 2 Unifilters over the weekend and now that I have a nice new clean original paper filter to compare against I will be able to monitor this nice and closely.

Very interesting that. 2L/100 is HUGE.

Another major problem with pre oiled type filters is if over oiled they burn out the MAF sensor for a tidy 600-700 dollar repair bill.....ouch.

Apparently happens regularly too.

When I get my ute I will only be using a paper or dry type for the sensor reason. My cousin ruined 3 sensors in a BMW with oil type filters it cost him a few months wages to get it all fixed. I aint risking my new ute as I dont have the money he has.

Isn't it funny how cameras never really show the dirt or is just me or maybe fast red, who knows.

Serious, before I went bush it was dirty.

Blinksy, yes they are the Ironman steps.

It was funny, I was telling my boy "stand there, do this, blah blah blah" he says "dad its right", I say "did ya get that" he says, "dad just drive will ya".

He even took video.

Sam, I have actually never seen a white one, just many shades of white as I always have to have me sunnies on to look at them :)

It was funny when we left the bush we were about 200m off the main road and we come across a falcon ute, no-one there, passenger door open, and a shirt hanging off it, strange, my son says "must be getting dirty", we drive past and I looks over my shoulder and low and behold he comes up for a breather while doin the business in the front bench seat of the falcon, getting dirty alright, glad my son was actually thinking dirt dirty, not dirty dirty :), or was he!

A complete set of pics are coming soon of all final mods, have not had time to pic my nose with all the miles I have done recently eg. Batchelor NT, Devonport Tasmania, Canberra, Eden NSW, Sydney x 4, Melbourne, I need a holiday from the holidays :D .When I put the plates on I noticed that underneath the truck on one side was still a heap of Sugarloaf mud, I could not believe it, over a month later I am still clearing the crap off, oh well, it will at least top up the kids bmx jump :)

A comment on the suspension though, I did not think that it could get better, a new different rated coil, different setup with collars on the struts, but it has got better.

But I guess he prettied her up for the pre prom photo shoot like a good dad.

Looks good mate. What benefit do you get from removing the tub protection?

Sorry Subi, we get rain in Newcastle which means I can wash it each week...sorry :)

Homer, it means I now have a choice of about 4 fridges to buy, gained because of the extra 20mm saved. If only they gave us the 50mm higher tub without the length in the first place. I am currently eyeing off the Evakool 60litre, Waeco and Engel are out. Also I can easily clean behind the liner and I can take out and put in if ever needed the liner a lot easier. If it does not work out I may have to get it lined, would rather spend dollars elsewhere, Canopy and 2 x Diff locks would be nice.
