Miss Daisy's Development

With regards to oiling, this came pre-oiled from unifilter. Having a look at them I think if they dry out they will become brittle and break up fairly easily. I'll just keep it oiled and in a bag in the glovebox for weekends like this one ;)

The unifilter/snorkel combo makes an unreal sound hey Fridgie..........I love it :D

The pre filter only fits safari snorkel heads too guys.............does not fit Airtek snorkels, different design..........found this out the hard way

Good on you Qld'r love your work mate ;)

Hey Fridgie, do you think the pre filter was a good thing after the dusty LCMP trip or maybe got a bit blocked?
I'm just not sure that with the small surface area and the oil that it wouldn't restrict flow pretty quick compared to the proper air filter? Pics sometimes don't give a good impression....

Not sure if i read it on here or somewhere else..............but someone was using their pre filter WITHOUT the oil on it..........because it would get clogged too quickly..........but it still filters alot of the larger stuff and probably most of the dust aswell..........might be worth a try anyway.

If it doesnt work next time.........its only a matter of cleaning the main filter isnt it ;)

Miss Daisy's Development

Postby fridgie on Sat Nov 20, 2010 8:30 pm

My prefilter was absolutely covered with dust but is no where near as fine a filter as the airbox. It came pre oiled and I couldn't be stuffed cleaning it so just chucked it on and went. :?:

It never seemed to change how daisy ran from clean to filthy so I tried it out a bit tonight on a drive to a mates place, ran over there with it on, came home with it off. :)

Very pleased to say no change in feel or fuel economy, it was about a 60km drive with some hillish roads so a good test I thought ;)
Also pleased to say there is the smallest amount of dust film in a section of the airfilter with the rest spotless.

Yeah mate, actually spent the time and gave her a complete overhaul inside and out including waxing for the first time since god knows when the weekend before the trip  was hoping the weather might have settled some of the dust at least :?

And making sure she looked her best for the trip ;)

Daisy was spotless before LCMP the other weekend. If she wasn't blue she would have looked fantastic.

Well, it seems the time has come for me to throw a few more hard earned at her and see what will happen ;)

Tonight I picked up a bluetooth OBD dongle and program for the laptop so now I can see all the lovely things that I have no idea what they mean

The good thing about this is I will be able to compare the figures I get now, although still with no idea what they mean, to the figures i will get next week when the MRT ECU upgrade goes in    just wanted to grab 1 thing off the site before the price goes up      might even look into a sprint booster too 8-) ;)

Then hopefully the sahara bar around christmas/new years ;)
