I have to admit I have not had too many original ideas, most were stolen from others on here

might look at the pillar pod soon, it's been gathering dust in the garage for quite a while

Things have been a bit slow on the build lately but I have done some little things

got sick of the radiator overflow spilling out over the paintwork when the stealers overfill the bottle.

It's the Safari replacement bottle which has a small hole in the top corner.

I just drilled the hole out to 5.5mm & fitted a 5mm elbow with a hose draining under the car. Sealed with a bit of silicone.



Not fitted yet, but made up some HD bash plate mounts to replace the one I broke last Easter. Used Buzzy's CAD design

I plan to do a few small things before the next trip in a couple of weeks
Re-wire the canopy light to the aux batt as well as the Anderson plug in the tub.

I hope do do a few more of the bigger mods early next year when funds permit

This is one I have had planned for quite a while.

went to Pick A Part & found an assembly that suited. All I can say is it was from a Ford. It started to rain & I forgot to look at what model it was.

Pretty happy with the result. I did swap the globes for some LED's

that would be the clock. Pov pack does not have a dash clock.

the switch on the side is the reverse camera manual on switch -reverse mirror screen

I am fitting external & internal temp sensors as part of my new gauge install........watch this space

I'm impressed by the back seat design so much I'm going to give it a crack. If you don't mind me asking what thickness Is the ply behind the seat? 3 or 6 mm?

Looks more like 18mm to me

Never mind, I was looking at the wrong thing, thought you were talking about the base board there, for that ply id say 6-8mm

only 3mm for the panel holding the ctek, fuse panel, switches etc.
bolted to the rear of the cab using existing fittings. I think they might have been the child restraint points.
Pretty sure they changed on the later models.

Yeah in the 2015 mn the restraints are in the bottom, as with the middle lap n sash seat belt spool. Going to try fit a battery and compressor behind there with disturbing them.

I have been working on the gauge pillar pod for the last couple of weeks (cannot rush some things )
Purchased the pod in a group buy over two years ago

fitted the pillar pod, wired in the lighting, oil pressure sender, outside air temp sensor and inside air temp sensor.

still to fit water temp sender & EGT sensor.

Pillar pod ended up being pretty easy after some thought. The lower clips hold in behind the dash and the rubber door trim holds it in place along the edge. All that was required was a trim clip at the top to secure it to the original one behind. It makes for a fairly neat install and almost factory looking.

These gauges can be programmed with different colour options and with an optional module I can have a different colour at night, this reduces the glare considerably.

I'm still trying the different colour options but the purple seems to give reasonable readability without being distracting.

I have installed an optional outside air temp sensor as well as a cabin temp sensor. The GLX does not come with these so I figured I may as well fit them seeing as how the gauges have the ability to have another input. It could be used for a number of other things if needed, i.e. oil temp (engine or auto trans)



I fitted the oil pressure sender on a 'T' adapter keeping the original switch for the dash light.


I found the best way to get to the oil sender was to remove the front left wheel and access it through the wheel arch. At first I removed the battery but that did not get me close enough.
Anyone doing this I advise getting hold of an oil switch removing tool (or a deep socket) there is no room to use a spanner. Make sure you use some thread sealer.

the adapter is 1/8 gas (BSPT) male thread & female socket and has 1/8 NPT female for the new sender.

These gauges have the ability to set warning limits, when the limit is hit (low pressure or high temps) it beeps and changes colour, either red or orange can be set.

If relying on looking at a gauge alone, there is a fair chance you could miss an engine damaging situation. I like the warnings these give for extra security.

All going well I will get the water temp done next weekend & this will just leave the EGT sensor. This involves welding a bung onto the dump pipe. I will have to find someone that can do that for me- I am not that good at welding.

Been wanting to replace the tinny meep meep horn for some time. Did not suit the look of the vehicle.

Went with a Steblel Nautilus

made a short bracket to attach it behind the grille, wanted it off to the side so not to reduce airflow.
Wired it up so I can switch off the Stebel & just use the factory horn ( don't know if I will ever use the switch though)

I have not had a chance to give it a long blast as I think the neighbors might have had a heart attack

I did plan to try it out on the way to work today, but there was a bit too much traffic around

the videos I have seen sound a little tinny. Sounds like this
From the short blast I did give it yesterday, I would say it sounds better in real life


Time will tell as to how it lasts but for now, yes I would recommend it.

When I get a chance I will post the wiring details I used to enable the stebel to be switched off.

I give all speed camera operators a good blast when I go past.
Why should they get to sleep in their passenger seat while getting payed and ripping of the public.

I may have mentioned earlier in the build, when I needed to run a cable into the cab, I used 5 core trailer wire. This allowed for some spares later. I used one of these & hooked it up to my old driving light switch on the dash.

I used the ground connection to switch the relay as this only required 1 wire from the relay, I just earthed the other side of the switch to the steel frame under the dash.

Turn the switch off & I have the OEM horn.

It is a very simple way to wire accessories to a cabin switch with a relay.
