I thought when he said Tuff he might have meant those black plastic/synthetic sort of bars rather than those big 5 posters. :?

Just about any brand name bar will give you protection against kangaroos.

Here's a photo of mine after a hit last year at over 100km/h. As you can see, although it's an Ironman bar, the damage is relatively minor.

That was his head that broke the driving light. I was fairly impressed. Without the bar there was no way I would have driven away from that one.

The Ironman/MCC bars have hoops which are bolted on. This gave me some concern initially that they wouldn't be as strong as the ARB/TJM type where the hoops extend well down behind the bar and are welded in.

Yes that's why I believe that the xrox won't do what I need it to do. Without the hoops in front of the headlights, unless I hit one head on in the centre, its going to damage my bonnet. All the Bullbars I've had so far are the traditional types with 3 hoops protecting the entire front end. And I do a fair few miles every week and live in an area noted for lots of Roos. Your Bullbar did an excellent job there

Depends on the make. Some are interchangeable, others not.

bull bar question

Postby Shwa on Mon Jul 23, 2012 4:27 pm

An interesting thread. I've been doing a bit of research myself and found an ARB deluxe winch bar from an ML for sale locally (second hand) and I've been trying to work out if I can fit it to my MN. I went in and asked a bloke at ARB about it today and the only thing he could really tell me was he thought the bar itself might be the same but the mounting brackets were either located in a different position to the ML or on the bar itself. I left with the feeling his angle was to sell me a new one which I obviously can't afford right now or I wouldn't be looking at old ones. That said, there was also some mention of a difference in the shape of the front ends. Can anyone shed any further light on this?

The profile of the MN bumper is different to the ML.
You will be able to make it fit by grinding back the bull bar where it meets the bumper......the rest should be the same.

After grinding a new profile on your bar you may need to look at getting it resprayed if you get to much heat into it

Thanks Mattz. That settles my dilemma. Think I'll just keep lookin around for the moment. Sell some other toys to finance the more pricey mods like a decent bar & side rails.

The tuff bars a great. Have cleaned up some serious sized roos with not movement marks or bends. You do lack entry clearance but can drive through pretty much anything.

Everest Bullbars back on eBay at $899 at the moment. Apparently 7 sold already.

Does anyone on here have an Everest bullbar (or are one of the 7)? or know anything about them, they look a bit like a Ironman, going by the photos anyway.

Just brought a Everest stainless steel hoop one off eBay. Will post the install once I receive it.
Great value compared to some others in the market. I wanted to use a commercial ironman bar but they are out of stock.
Did notice tho I could get a few bars cheaper installed them buying the bar outright myself which seems crazy.
