MN long tub factory 3 piece hard lid install

Postby soontir on Sat Feb 02, 2013 11:40 am

Hi all,
Seen the threads on installing a hard cover, but they have been for the shorter tub.
Has anyone have any pics or know of a write up on installing a hard lid on a long tub.
I have the mounting kit that came with the one I have bought, but it has some mounts that I have not seen before.
Also the mounting positions will be different in length to those that had been previously posted

Thanks

Rodney

The long "T" bar mounts, where do they go?

Cant really make out from your pic as its pretty small, but I think your refering to the suport mounts for the wings that go around the sports bar, once the lid is fitted they can be adjusted to lift them up slightly for a snug fit.

I managed to fit the lid on my own in 2.5hrs, but if doing it again l would definately get somebody to help me for the final fit of the lid.

Just remember to measure twice and drill once and you should get on no problem.

Dont you have the instructions?

If someone could email me the instructions at cowboy_dave@newtriton.net I will try and get them posted on the site to make it easier for others to find later.

Im thinking of getting a hard cover fitted to my MN but had a quote from Mitsubishi and they want about $2500 to do it.

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is anywhere else that would supply and fit a hardcover at a cheaper price ?

Has anyone here installed one of these themselves with a ute liner already fitted?

Not yet. Just picked one up today and Im going to have a go on the weekend. So glad that I found some instructions on this post  . They are a life saver. I have the ute liner that does not roll over the top of the tub which i think is the right one for a hard cover. Will let you know how it goes if you are still interested.

Hey guys, managed to possibly score myself a hard cover and roll bar for $250, but have a few questions, hope this thread is ok.

1) are the MN install instructions the same as ML? how long would/does it take to install? have to do it on a the sellers lunch break.

2) Has anyone with a rhino sprayed tub or similar found it a problem to fit a hard cover??? my concerns are that some bolt holes or similar have been sprayed over or that the rhino spray slightly alters the shape of the tray lip or similar.

cheers in advance.

Why not just stick it on and tie it down with some ratchet straps til you get home so you can take your time a bit with it?

I'd guess the instructions would be the same apart from the possibility of a measurement or two being different? Maybe take a tape measure and take a couple of photos of the other blokes tray before you leave? I wouldn't want to be rushing around when there are holes to be drilled.

I unfortunately will be viewing it, and if I like it and purchase it, have to install it and drive several hundred km. It's not ideal but they are hard to come by in WA. If holes have to be drilled it may be a challenge. I have never attempted to drill through the rhino.
